But God said,“ No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a permanent covenant for his future offspring.

上帝曰、爾妻撒拉、果必生子、命名以撒、我將與以撒、及其後裔、立永約。

Then God said,“ Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Then God said,“ Yes, I will bless Ishmael. But your wife Sarah will have a son by you. And you will name him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him. That covenant will last forever. It will be for Isaac and his family after him.

God said,“ No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

But God replied,“ No— Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant.

But God said,“ No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Then God said:“ No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

And God said, Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

But God said,“ No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his future offspring.

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant,[ and] with his seed after him.

God said,“ No, Sarah your wife is going to bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a perpetual covenant for his descendants after him.

God said,“ No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

Now it is not as though the word of God has failed, because not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.Neither is it the case that all of Abraham’s children are his descendants. On the contrary, your offspring will be traced through Isaac.That is, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but the children of the promise are considered to be the offspring.For this is the statement of the promise: At this time I will come, and Sarah will have a son.

But the angel said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will name him John.There will be joy and delight for you, and many will rejoice at his birth.For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit while still in his mother’s womb.He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.And he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.”“ How can I know this?” Zechariah asked the angel.“ For I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”The angel answered him,“ I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and tell you this good news.Now listen. You will become silent and unable to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”

Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time God had told him.Abraham named his son who was born to him— the one Sarah bore to him— Isaac.

Now you too, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.But just as then the child born as a result of the flesh persecuted the one born as a result of the Spirit, so also now.But what does the Scripture say?“ Drive out the slave and her son, for the son of the slave will never be a coheir with the son of the free woman.”Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of a slave but of the free woman.

Sarah said,“ God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

Elisha said,“ At this time next year you will have a son in your arms.” Then she said,“ No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your servant.”The woman conceived and gave birth to a son at the same time the following year, as Elisha had promised her.

The LORD said,“ I will certainly come back to you in about a year’s time, and your wife Sarah will have a son!” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent behind him.Abraham and Sarah were old and getting on in years. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.So she laughed to herself:“ After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I have delight?”But the LORD asked Abraham,“ Why did Sarah laugh, saying,‘ Can I really have a baby when I’m old?’Is anything impossible for the LORD? At the appointed time I will come back to you, and in about a year she will have a son.”

stay in this land as an alien, and I will be with you and bless you. For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring, and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.

But I will confirm my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this time next year.”
