So Sarai said to Abram,“ The Lord has prevented me from having children. Go and sleep with my servant. Perhaps I can have children through her.” And Abram agreed with Sarai’s proposal.

撒莱对亚伯兰说：“请看，耶和华使我不能生育，求你去亲近我的婢女，或者我可以从她得孩子。”亚伯兰就听从了撒莱的话。

撒萊對亞伯蘭說：『你看，永恆主抑制我、使我不能生育；求你進去找我婢女，或者我的後裔得以樹立起來。』亞伯蘭聽從了撒萊的話。

撒萊對亞伯蘭說：「看哪，耶和華使我不能生育，請你與我的婢女同房，或許我可以藉著她立後。」亞伯蘭聽從了撒萊的話。

so she said to Abram,“ The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

So she said to Abram,“ The Lord has kept me from having children. Go and sleep with my slave. Maybe I can have a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai had said.

And Sarai said to Abram,“ Behold now, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Go in to my servant; it may be that I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

Sarai said to Abram,“ Since the LORD has prevented me from bearing children, go to my slave; perhaps through her I can build a family.” And Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

So Sarai said to Abram,“ See now, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Please have relations with my slave woman; perhaps I will obtain children through her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

So Sarai said to Abram,“ See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.

And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, Jehovah hath restrained me from bearing; go in, I pray thee, unto my handmaid; it may be that I shall obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

Sarai said to Abram,“ Since the Lord has prevented me from bearing children, go to my slave; perhaps through her I can build a family.” And Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

So Sarai said to Abram,“ Since the LORD has prevented me from having children, have sexual relations with my servant. Perhaps I can have a family by her.” Abram did what Sarai told him.

Sarai said to Abram,“ See now, Yahweh has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her.” Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

Isaac pleaded with the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children. The Lord answered Isaac’s prayer, and Rebekah became pregnant with twins.

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.

Then one of them said,“ I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!” Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent.

For the Lord had caused all the women to be infertile because of what happened with Abraham’s wife, Sarah.

Meanwhile, Leah realized that she wasn’t getting pregnant anymore, so she took her servant, Zilpah, and gave her to Jacob as a wife.Soon Zilpah presented him with a son.

The man replied,“ It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”

Then the elders and all the people standing in the gate replied,“ We are witnesses! May the Lord make this woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, from whom all the nation of Israel descended! May you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.

The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman,“ Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”“ Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied.“ It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said,‘ You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”“ You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.“ God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.

Then God remembered Rachel’s plight and answered her prayers by enabling her to have children.

“ If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave and they had sons or daughters, then only the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master.

Then Jacob became furious with Rachel.“ Am I God?” he asked.“ He’s the one who has kept you from having children!”Then Rachel told him,“ Take my maid, Bilhah, and sleep with her. She will bear children for me, and through her I can have a family, too.”So Rachel gave her servant, Bilhah, to Jacob as a wife, and he slept with her.

And to the man he said,“ Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.

And I will bless her and give you a son from her! Yes, I will bless her richly, and she will become the mother of many nations. Kings of nations will be among her descendants.”

Rachel named him Dan, for she said,“ God has vindicated me! He has heard my request and given me a son.”
