亚达月十四日，苏萨的犹太人又聚集起来，在苏萨击杀了三百人，但没有下手掠夺财物。至于王各省中的其余犹太人，他们也都聚集起来，保护自己的性命，摆脱他们的仇敌，击杀了七万五千个恨他们的人，但没有下手掠夺财物；

你们行事为人不要爱钱财，要以现有的为满足，因为神自己说过：“我绝不撇下你，也绝不离弃你。”

我在你们那里有缺乏的时候，也没有成为任何人的负担，因为从马其顿省来的弟兄们补足了我的缺乏。在一切事上我都留意，不让自己成为你们的负担，将来也会留意。我指着在我里面基督的真理说，在亚该亚地区，谁也不能阻止我如此夸耀。为什么呢？难道因为我不爱你们吗？神是知道的！我现在所做的，将来还要做，为要断绝那些人的机会——他们想找一个机会，好让别人以为他们所夸耀的与我们一样，

看哪，这是我第三次预备好到你们那里去，而且我不会成为你们的负担，因为我想要的不是你们的东西，而是你们自己。本来，不应该是儿女为父母积蓄财富，而是父母为儿女积蓄财富。
