羅得因為怕住在瑣珥，就與他的兩個女兒，一同離開瑣珥上了山，住在那裡；他和兩個女兒住在一個洞裡。

他們彼此說：“來，我們做磚，把磚燒透吧！”他們就把磚當作石頭，又把石漆當作灰泥。

那逃避恐懼聲音的，必墮入陷坑；那從陷坑裡上來的，必被網羅纏住；因為天上的窗都開了，地的根基也震動了。

他們都在隱．多珥被消滅，成了地上的糞土。

“那逃避恐懼的，必跌進陷阱；那從陷阱中出來的，必被圈套困著。因為我必使摩押受懲罰的年日臨到它。”這是耶和華的宣告。

以色列人在田間、在曠野，殺盡了所有追趕他們的艾城的居民，艾城的人全部倒在刀下，直到完全消滅；接著，以色列眾人回到艾城，用刀擊殺了城中的人。
