基拉耳的牧人與以撒的牧人爭吵起來，都說：「這口井是我們的。」於是，以撒便稱那口井為埃色。

你們在異教徒當中要品行端正。這樣，儘管他們毀謗你們是作惡的人，但看見你們的好行為，也會在主來的日子把榮耀歸給上帝。

這時，來了另外一群牧人要把她們趕走。摩西便起來幫助她們，打水飲她們的羊群。

我繼續說：「你們的所作所為實在不對。難道你們不應該敬畏上帝，以免我們的仇敵凌辱我們嗎？

從前我們也愚蠢、悖逆、易受迷惑，受各種私慾和享樂的驅使，心裡充滿了嫉妒和惡念，令人憎惡，也彼此憎恨。

由於亞比米勒的僕人霸佔了一口水井，亞伯拉罕就指責亞比米勒。

你們要把握時機，運用智慧和非信徒交往。

哪裡有嫉妒和自私的野心，哪裡就會有混亂和各樣的惡事。

你們彼此衝突、互相鬥毆的起因是什麼呢？不就是你們身體中不斷交戰的慾望嗎？

雅各責備西緬和利未說：「你們為什麼要給我惹麻煩，使我在當地的迦南人和比利洗人中留下臭名呢？我們人數很少，要是他們聯手來攻擊我們，我們全家必遭滅門之禍。」

你們仍然是屬肉體的人，因為你們中間有嫉妒、爭鬥。這豈不證明你們是屬肉體的，行事為人和世人一樣嗎？

無論做什麼事，都不要抱怨，也不要與人爭論，好使你們在這個彎曲敗壞的時代中無可指責、誠實無偽，作上帝純潔無瑕的兒女，如同明光照耀在世上，

這樣，你們可以得到外人的尊敬，不必依賴任何人。

拜偶像、行邪術、仇恨、爭吵、忌恨、惱怒、紛爭、衝突、分裂、

就在那天，耶和華跟亞伯蘭立約，說：「我必將這片土地賜給你的後代，使他們得到從埃及河到幼發拉底河一帶的土地，就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、利乏音人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人和耶布斯人的土地。」

迦南的疆域從西頓向基拉耳延伸，遠至迦薩，再向所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁延伸，遠至拉沙。
