司提反曰、諸父兄聽之哉、昔我祖亞伯拉罕、尚在米所波米、未居哈蘭時、榮光之天主現於彼、曰、爾出故土、離親族、往我將指爾之地、乃離迦勒底、居哈蘭、其父死後、天主徙之至此地、即爾今所居者、是時天主未嘗在此地賜之以業、即立足之地、亦未賜之、惟許以此地賜彼及其子孫為業、時亞伯拉罕尚未有子也、天主且云、其苗裔將旅於異國、其國之人必勒之為奴、困苦之歷四百年、

約書亞告民眾曰、主以色列之天主如是云、古昔爾曹列祖、其中亞伯拉罕與拿鶴之父他拉、居河東、崇事他神、我自河東攜爾祖亞伯拉罕、導之遍行迦南全地、蕃其苗裔、賜生以撒、

追思爾始祖亞伯拉罕及爾祖母撒拉、我選召亞伯拉罕時、彼孑然一身、後賜之以福、使其昌熾、

主天主歟、昔選亞伯蘭、導之出迦勒底之吾珥、賜名亞伯拉罕、

人就我、若不愛我、勝於愛其父母、妻子、兄弟、姊妹、與己之生命、不得為我徒、不負其十字架而從我者、亦不得為我徒、爾曹孰有建樓、不先坐計其貲、果足以竣事否乎、恐置基而不能成、見者皆哂之曰、此人作於始、乃不能成於終、或有王出、與他王會戰、豈不先坐而運籌、能以一萬卒、敵以二萬卒來攻者乎、否則彼尚遠、遣使求和、如是凡爾曹不盡舍所有者、不得為我徒、○

他拉挈亞伯蘭與孫、即哈蘭子羅得、及子婦撒萊、咸出迦勒底之吾珥邑、欲往迦南地、至於哈蘭居焉、他拉享壽二百有五歲、乃終於哈蘭、

人子、以色列地荒墟、居之者常言、亞伯拉罕一人、能得斯地為業、我儕人多、必更能據之為業、

主又諭之曰、我乃耶和華、曾攜爾出迦勒底之吾珥者、欲以此地賜爾為業、

我自地極援引爾、自地之遠方召爾至、謂爾曰、爾乃我之僕、我選爾、不棄爾、

我聞自天有聲云、我民當出於其中、免爾與彼同罪、同受其災、

主曰、爾當出於其中、而自區別、勿蒙污穢、我則納爾、

女子乎、爾須聽須視、須側耳而聽、莫追念爾故國人民及爾父家、王即喜悅爾之美麗、彼原爾之主、當敬拜之、
