兄弟乎、苟我今猶鼓吹割禮、則何為尚受排擯耶？夫然則十字架亦不當復被視為眼中釘矣。

至於我呢、弟兄們，我若還在宣傳割禮，為甚麼還受逼迫呢？若是那樣，十字架之被看為信仰障礙不就早已除掉了麼！

弟兄們，如果我仍然傳講割禮，我為什麼還受逼迫呢？如果我這樣做，十字架使人絆腳的地方早就沒有了。

兄弟乎、若我尚宣割禮、何至猶見窘逐乎、若然、則十架之蹇礙已廢矣、

兄弟乎、若我言人當受割禮、何至今猶窘逐我乎、彼亦不厭十字架之道矣、

兄弟乎、若我仍傳割禮、何至尚受窘逐乎、若傳割禮、則十字架之道、不被人厭棄矣、

Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

Brothers and sisters, I no longer preach that people must be circumcised. If I did, why am I still being opposed? If I preached that, then the cross wouldn’t upset anyone.

But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

Dear brothers and sisters, if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised— as some say I do— why am I still being persecuted? If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended.

Now brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

But as for me, brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been eliminated.

And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.

But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? then hath the stumbling- block of the cross been done away.

Now brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Now, brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

But I, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been removed.

而吾人所傳揚者、乃一被釘於十字架之基督耳。此於猶太人為躓石、於異邦人為愚妄；

人之欲以形體之事眩世、而強爾受割禮者、其惟一動機、乃欲避免為基督十字架而被擯於世耳。

夫血氣之兒女、必仇視聖神之兒女、古今一體。

且吾儕之臨危蹈難、不遑寧息、所為何事乎？

從予之提多、希臘人也、亦未有強之受割禮者。

惟彼等聞人言爾於寄居異邦之猶太人、嘗勸其背棄摩西、勿為其子行割禮、亦勿遵循規律、

葆樂欲攜之與俱、以是處猶太人咸知其父為希臘人、乃為之行割禮。

眾聞彼陳述至此、高呼曰：『此人實無可生之理、地所不載、盍共除之！』遂大譁、拋擲其衣、揚塵空中。

彼為基督之臣僕乎？則恕我放肆、吾更是也。吾視若輩勞苦多矣、繫獄多次、受笞無數、且常處死地、屢遭不測、五次被鞭於猶太人、每次四十減一、三次受杖、一次石擊、三遭覆舟、飄於海中者一晝一夜、僕僕風塵、不遑寧息、時遭河汊之危、盜賊之難、邦人之厄、異域之苦、城市之驚、曠野之困、海洋之險、及偽兄弟之陷害：

今後望勿添我煩惱、我已身被耶穌之創痕矣。

且呼曰：『義塞人當起而相助！是即隨處教人蹂躪吾民、吾律及斯殿者也。今且引希臘人入殿、污斯聖所！』。

何以故？以其求之不以信、而以法耳。經云：『慎之哉、余以躓人之石、礙人之磐、置於西温；惟能置信者、決不失望。』顧義塞人則見躓於斯石矣。

又曰：『此為躓石、觸之必蹶。』若輩不順天主之道、宜其蹶也、亦定命耳。而爾等則為蒙選之族、赫赫司祭、雍雍神國實天主之眷屬也。天主既召爾等出於黑暗入於靈光、爾等可不表彰大德乎。

夫聖架之道、在喪心病狂不可救藥者視之、愚莫甚焉；而在沾溉救恩之吾人視之、則天主之德能也。

計同盟者四十餘人；彼等往見司祭長與長老曰：『吾儕矢誓、不殺葆樂、決不進食；
