你們所領受的不是奴僕的靈，仍舊害怕；所領受的是兒子名分的靈，因此我們呼叫：「阿爸，父！」聖靈自己與我們的靈一同見證我們是上帝的兒女。若是兒女，就是後嗣，是上帝的後嗣，和基督同作後嗣。如果我們和他一同受苦，是要我們和他一同得榮耀。

那又怎麼說呢？以色列人所尋求的，他們沒有得着。但是蒙揀選的人得着了，其餘的人卻成了頑梗不化的。如經上所記：「上帝給他們昏沉的靈，眼睛看不見，耳朵聽不到，直到今日。」大衛也說：「願他們的宴席變為羅網，變為陷阱，變為絆腳石，作他們的報應。願他們的眼睛昏花，看不見；願你時常彎下他們的腰。」那麼，我再問，他們失足是要他們跌倒嗎？絕對不是！因他們的過犯，救恩反而臨到外邦人，要激起他們嫉妒的心。

但聖經把萬物都圈在罪裏，為要使因信耶穌基督而來的應許歸給信的人。

上帝並沒有棄絕他預先所知道的百姓。你們豈不知道經上論到以利亞是怎麼說的呢？他在上帝面前怎樣控告以色列人說：

聖經既然預先看見上帝要使外邦人因信稱義，預先傳福音給亞伯拉罕，說：「萬國都必因你得福。」

經上說甚麼呢？「亞伯拉罕信了上帝，這就算他為義。」

經上說：「上帝愛安置在我們裏面的靈，愛到嫉妒的地步。」你們以為這話是徒然的嗎？
