夫為奴者、不能常留宅中、惟為子者、得常住焉。

蓋爾所受者、非畏首畏尾之奴隸情緒；爾所受者、乃為呼爺喚父之兒女精神也。即聖神亦與吾人之神魂、同證吾人之為天主兒女焉。既為兒女、即為嗣子；既為天主之嗣子、則亦為基督之共同繼承人也。惟是吾人如欲與之共榮、則不可不先與之共苦共難耳。

然則如何？曰：義塞之所求、未之得也、其中蒙恩者得之、而其餘則已成麻木不仁之徒矣。經云：『天主已使其冥頑不靈、有目而不能見、有耳而不能聞、以迄於今；』此之謂也。大維亦曰：『願其筵席之化作羅穽兮、自食其所作之孽。願其目之昏矇而不見兮、背常曲而不直。』然則義塞人之躓也、將一厥而不振乎？無是理也！夫因彼之顛墜、救恩乃普及於異邦之人、是亦所以激發之耳。

然律法之所以將一切歸納於罪責之下者、正欲使後人篤信耶穌基督之福音、而承受天主之恩諾耳。

是天主固未曾棄絕其所預識之子民。抑爾未知經中所載伊理藹向天主控訴義塞之言乎？

古經實已逆睹天主之將使普天萬民因信成義、故預報福音於亞伯漢曰：『天下萬民、咸將蒙休於爾懷中。』

經不云乎：『亞伯漢篤信天主、因是而稱義焉。』

經云：『寓我心中之聖神、愛我情深、不容我別有所戀；』爾以此語為虛發乎。
