撒拉看見那埃及人夏甲給亞伯拉罕所生的兒子在嬉戲，

弟兄們，如果我仍舊傳割禮，我為甚麼還受迫害呢？若是這樣，十字架絆倒人的地方就沒有了。

如果隨著肉體而活，你們必定死；如果靠著聖靈治死身體的惡行，你們就必活著。

因此，我差派先知、智慧人和經學家到你們那裡；有些你們要殺害又釘在十字架上，有些你們要在會堂裡鞭打，從一個城趕逐到另一個城。所以，從義人亞伯的血起，到巴拉加的兒子撒迦利亞的血為止，他就是你們在聖所和祭壇中間所殺的，所有義人在地上所流的血，都要歸在你們身上。我實在告訴你們，這一切都必臨到這個世代。“耶路撒冷，耶路撒冷啊，你殺害先知，又用石頭把奉派到你們那裡的人打死。我多次想招聚你的兒女，好像母雞招聚小雞到翅膀底下，只是你們不願意。

父怎樣愛我，我也怎樣愛你們；你們要住在我的愛裡。

耶穌回答：“我實實在在告訴你，人若不是從水和聖靈生的，就不能進神的國。

弟兄們，你們好像猶太地在基督耶穌裡神的眾教會一樣，他們怎樣遭受猶太人的迫害，你們也照樣遭受同族人的迫害。這些猶太人殺了主耶穌和眾先知，又把我們趕出來。他們得不到神的喜悅，並且和所有的人作對，

有時在眾人面前被辱罵，遭患難；有時卻成了遭遇同樣情形的人的同伴。你們同情那些遭監禁的人；你們的家業被搶奪的時候，又以喜樂的心接受，因為知道自己有更美長存的家業。

但那出於婢女的，是按著肉體生的；那出於自由的婦人的，是憑著應許生的。

所以現在，那些在耶穌基督裡的人就不被定罪了；

那些在外表上要體面的人，他們勉強你們受割禮，不過是怕為了基督的十字架受迫害。那些受割禮的人，自己也不遵守律法，反而要你們受割禮，為的是要藉著你們的肉身誇口。至於我，我絕不以別的誇口，只誇我們主耶穌基督的十字架。藉著這十字架，在我來說，世界已經釘在十字架上了；就世界來說，我也已經釘在十字架上了。
