Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?

你们受苦如此之多，都是徒然的吗？难道果真是徒然的吗？

你们受这么多的苦都是徒然的吗？如果真是徒然的，

你们受这么多的苦都是徒然的吗？如果真是徒然的，

你们受了许多苦，难道都是徒然的吗？都白受了吗？

你们受了这么多的苦，都是白受的吗？恐怕真是白受的了。

你们受了这么多的苦，都没有意义吗？会不会真的没有意义呢！

你們受苦如此之多，都是徒然的嗎？難道果真是徒然的嗎？

你們受這麼多的苦都是徒然的嗎？如果真是徒然的，

你們受這麼多的苦都是徒然的嗎？如果真是徒然的，

你們受了許多苦，難道都是徒然的嗎？都白受了嗎？

你們受了這麼多的苦，都是白受的嗎？恐怕真是白受的了。

你們受苦這麼多，都是徒然的麼？——如果真是徒然的話，

你們受了這麼多的苦，都沒有意義嗎？會不會真的沒有意義呢！

爾徒受若許之苦乎、果徒然乎、

爾為斯道、亦既受多苦矣、今若此、不徒然乎、其可徒然歟、

爾徒受如此之多苦乎、豈果徒然乎、

果爾、則爾向之所受一切痛苦艱難、亦有何益、將非盡付東流乎？

Have you experienced so much in vain— if it really was in vain?

Have you experienced so much for nothing? And was it really for nothing?

Did you suffer so many things in vain— if indeed it was in vain?

Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?

Did you experience so much for nothing— if in fact it was for nothing?

Did you suffer so many things in vain— if indeed it was in vain?

Have you suffered so many things in vain— if indeed it was in vain?

Did ye suffer so many things in vain? if it be indeed in vain.

Did you suffer so much for nothing— if in fact it was for nothing?

Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if[ it be] yet in vain.

Have you suffered so many things for nothing?– if indeed it was for nothing.

But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings;partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions; and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so.For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.“ In a very little while, he who comes will come, and will not wait.But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.

by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you— unless you believed in vain.

For concerning those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,and tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify the Son of God for themselves again, and put him to open shame.

“ But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.

For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.But it has happened to them according to the true proverb,“ The dog turns to his own vomit again,” and“ the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire.”
