其以聖神始、而以形跡終乎？豈爾之冥頑不靈、一至於此乎？

Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?

Are you so foolish? You began by the Holy Spirit. Are you now trying to finish God’s work in you by your own strength?

Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?

You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace.For we eagerly await through the Spirit, by faith, the hope of righteousness.For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.You were running well. Who prevented you from being persuaded regarding the truth?This persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.

This is a symbol for the present time, during which gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the worshiper’s conscience.They are physical regulations and only deal with food, drink, and various washings imposed until the time of the new order.

Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised— but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.For even the circumcised don’t keep the law themselves, and yet they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh.But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world.

So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then God has made you an heir.But in the past, since you didn’t know God, you were enslaved to things that by nature are not gods.But now, since you know God, or rather have become known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elements? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?You are observing special days, months, seasons, and years.

who did not become a priest based on a legal regulation about physical descent but based on the power of an indestructible life.For it has been testified: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.So the previous command is annulled because it was weak and unprofitable( for the law perfected nothing), but a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.
