因為承受產業若是出於律法，就不再是出於應許；但上帝是憑着應許把產業賜給亞伯拉罕。

若云嗣業係據律法、則不復淵源於恩諾矣。然而嗣業、固天主所許於亞伯漢之恩賜也。

For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

The great gift that God has for us does not depend on the law. If it did, it would no longer depend on the promise. But God gave it to Abraham as a free gift through a promise.

For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God’s promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.

這樣你們才不會懶惰，卻成為效法那些藉着信和忍耐承受應許的人。當初上帝應許亞伯拉罕的時候，因為沒有比自己更大的可以指着起誓，就指着自己起誓，說：「我必多多賜福給你；我必使你大大增多。」這樣，亞伯拉罕因恆心等待而得了所應許的。

因為上帝給亞伯拉罕和他後裔承受世界的應許不是藉着律法，而是藉着信而得的義。若是屬於律法的人才是後嗣，信就落空了，應許也就失效了。因為律法是惹動憤怒的，哪裏沒有律法，哪裏就沒有過犯。所以，人作後嗣是出於信，因此就屬乎恩，以致應許保證歸給所有的後裔，不但歸給那屬於律法的，也歸給那效法亞伯拉罕之信的人。亞伯拉罕所信的是那叫死人復活、使無變為有的上帝，在這位上帝面前亞伯拉罕成為我們眾人的父，如經上所記：「我已經立你作多國之父。」

他向我們列祖施憐憫，記得他的聖約，就是他對我們祖宗亞伯拉罕所起的誓，

有哪一個神明像你，赦免罪孽，饒恕他產業中餘民的罪過？他不永遠懷怒，喜愛施恩。他必轉回憐憫我們，把我們的罪孽踏在腳下。你必將他們一切的罪投於深海。你必按古時向我們列祖起誓的話，以信實待雅各，向亞伯拉罕施慈愛。

若是兒女，就是後嗣，是上帝的後嗣，和基督同作後嗣。如果我們和他一同受苦，是要我們和他一同得榮耀。

我不廢掉上帝的恩；如果義是藉着律法而獲得，那麼基督就白白死了。

其實，你們藉着信，在基督耶穌裏都成為上帝的兒女。

那些應許原是向亞伯拉罕和他後裔說的，並不是說「和眾後裔」，指許多人，而是說「和你那個後裔」，指一個人，就是基督。

這都因他記念他的聖言和他的僕人亞伯拉罕。

凡出於律法的行為都是受詛咒的，因為經上記着：「凡不持守律法書上所記的一切而去行的，都是受詛咒的。」

既然你們屬於基督，你們就是亞伯拉罕的子孫，是照着應許承受產業的了。

律法並不出於信，而是說：「行這些事的就必因此得生。」

他扶助了他的僕人以色列，不忘記施憐憫，正如他對我們的列祖說過，『憐憫亞伯拉罕和他的後裔，直到永遠。』」
