For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

The great gift that God has for us does not depend on the law. If it did, it would no longer depend on the promise. But God gave it to Abraham as a free gift through a promise.

For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God’s promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise nullified,because the law produces wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression.This is why the promise is by faith, so that it may be according to grace, to guarantee it to all the descendants— not only to the one who is of the law but also to the one who is of Abraham’s faith. He is the father of us all.

He has dealt mercifully with our ancestors and remembered his holy covenant—the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant that we,

Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger forever because he delights in faithful love.He will again have compassion on us; he will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.You will show loyalty to Jacob and faithful love to Abraham, as you swore to our ancestors from days long ago.

and if children, also heirs— heirs of God and coheirs with Christ— if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.

for through faith you are all sons of God in Christ Jesus.

you offspring of Abraham his servant, Jacob’s descendants— his chosen ones.He is the LORD our God; his judgments govern the whole earth.He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he ordained for a thousand generations—the covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,and confirmed to Jacob as a decree and to Israel as a permanent covenant:“ I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited portion.”When they were few in number, very few indeed, and resident aliens in Canaan,

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say“ and to seeds,” as though referring to many, but referring to one, and to your seed, who is Christ.

For he remembered his holy promise to Abraham his servant.

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, Everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed.

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.

But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them.

He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercyto Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he spoke to our ancestors.
