For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

彼等既見予所受聖寵之不虛、於是號稱教會柱石之雅各伯基法及若望、相率與予及巴拿巴殷勤握手、以表心契；我往外邦、而彼等則傳道於受割禮者。

斯旨無他、即因福音之傳、而萬邦之人、已得於基督耶穌庇蔭之下、同為嗣子、融成一體、共享恩諾是已。

伯鐸祿時坐院外、有使女詣其前曰：『爾與彼加利利人耶穌夙為同夥。』伯鐸祿當眾否認曰：『吾不知爾所云。』既出、方及門、又一使女見之、語於眾曰：『此乃納匝勒人耶穌之同夥也。』伯鐸祿復否認、並誓曰：『予不識其人也。』無何、旁立者更進謂伯鐸祿曰：『爾確為彼黨、聽爾之方音、已可知之矣。』伯鐸祿且咒且誓曰：『吾實不識其人。』雞即鳴矣。方憶耶穌「雞猶未鳴、行見爾不認予者三」之言。伯鐸祿乃悄然而出、不禁涕淚滂沱。

因此、爾等已不復為外人或賓旅、爾等與諸聖同為天國之公民、聖宅之家人。此聖宅、以宗徒先知為基、而有耶穌基督親充隅石；石上廣廈、經營正殷、結構日精、而規模日宏、駸駸乎將因主而成為聖殿矣。爾等亦為此廣廈之一部、聖神所建於同一隅石之上、以供天主之居停者也。

避惡若浼。

除法令之障。於彼之身、本族外族融成一體、以作新人、以建和平。

次晨、吾儕隨葆樂同訪雅各伯、長老咸在、葆樂致敬、並以主命宣揚教義、及所行於異邦者盡告之。眾聞之、無不歸榮天主、謂葆樂曰：『爾觀猶太人之信教者盈千累萬、篤守摩西律法；惟彼等聞人言爾於寄居異邦之猶太人、嘗勸其背棄摩西、勿為其子行割禮、亦勿遵循規律、眾聞爾至、將何以處？不如依吾言而行茲有四人、俱存誓願、爾與之偕往、同行潔禮、為納規費、使之削髮。如是則眾知曩昔所聞、盡屬浮言、悉爾亦遵行律法也。至異邦信主者、吾人亦已遺書、命勿食祭像之物、牲畜之血、及勒死之牲、且勿犯姦淫。』
