彼得上到耶路撒冷的时候，那些守割礼的人与他争论，说：“你竟然到未受割礼的人那里，跟他们一起吃饭！”

又知道我蒙了神的恩，那几位被誉为柱石的雅各、矶法和约翰，就向我和巴拿巴伸出右手互相许诺，我们要到外族人那里去传福音，他们要到受割礼的人那里去传福音；

这奥秘就是外族人在基督耶稣里，藉着福音可以同作后嗣，同为一体，同蒙应许。

彼得坐在外面的院子里，有一个婢女走过来对他说：“你也是和加利利人耶稣一伙的。”彼得却当众否认，说：“我不知道你说什么。”他出到门口，又有一个婢女看见他，就对那里的人说：“这人是和拿撒勒人耶稣一伙的。”彼得再次否认，并且发誓说：“我不认识那个人。”过了一会，站在那里的人前来对他说：“你的确是他们中间的一个，因为一听你的口音就认出来了。”彼得就发咒起誓说：“我不认识那一个人。”立刻鸡就叫了。彼得想起耶稣所说的话：“鸡叫以前，你会三次不认我”，他就出去痛哭。

这样看来，你们不再是外人和客旅，而是与圣徒一同作国民，是神家里的人了，并且建造在使徒和先知的根基上，基督耶稣自己就是奠基石，整座建筑都靠着他连接配合，渐渐增长成为在主里面的圣所。你们在他里面也一同被建造，成为神藉着圣灵居住的所在。

惧怕人的，必陷入网罗；倚靠耶和华的，必得安全。

各样的恶事要远离。

并且废掉了律法的规条，使两者在他里面成为一个新人，这样就缔造了和平。

第二天，保罗和我们一同去见雅各，长老们也都在座。保罗问候了他们，就把神藉着他的工作在外族人中所行的事，一一述说出来。他们听了，就赞美神，对保罗说：“弟兄，你看，犹太人中信主的有好几万，都是对律法很热心的人。他们听说，你教导所有在外族人中的犹太人背弃摩西，叫他们不要给孩子行割礼，也不要遵守规例。他们总会听见你来了，那怎么办呢？你就照我们的话作吧，我们这里有四个人，都有愿在身。你把他们带去，和他们一同行洁净礼，并且替他们付钱，让他们剃去头发，这样大家就知道以前所听见关于你的事，都不是真实的，也知道你是遵守律法循规蹈矩而行的人。至于信主的外族人，我们已经写了信，吩咐他们要禁戒祭偶像的食物、血、勒死的牲畜和淫乱。”

并且对人说：“你站远一点！不要挨近我，因为我会使你圣洁。”主说：“这些人是我鼻中的烟，是整天烧着的火。

你怕谁？你因谁而惧怕，以致你对我说谎呢？你不记念我，也不把我放在心上，是不是因为我长久缄默，你就不惧怕我呢？
