All they knew was that people were saying,“ The one who used to persecute us is now preaching the very faith he tried to destroy!”

他們不過聽說、那從前直逼迫我們的、如今卻把他從前所殘害的信仰傳為福音了；

他們只是聽說：「以前逼迫我們的那個人，現在卻在傳揚他曾經殘害過的信仰。」

第聞素窘逐我儕者、今宣昔所殘賊之道、

特聞我素窘逐彼者、以所殘賊之道、今傳為福音、

第聞素窘逐之者、窘逐之者原文作窘逐我儕者今傳昔所殘害之道、

第聞昔日之逼辱同人、摧殘聖道者、今已憣然歸正、而弘揚聖道矣；

They only heard the report:“ The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”

They only heard others say,“ The man who used to attack us has changed. He is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”

They only were hearing it said,“ He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”

They simply kept hearing,“ He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith he once tried to destroy.”

but they only kept hearing,“ The man who once persecuted us is now preaching the faith which he once tried to destroy.”

But they were hearing only,“ He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.”

but they only heard say, He that once persecuted us now preacheth the faith of which he once made havoc;

they simply kept hearing:“ He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith he once tried to destroy.”

But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

They were only hearing,“ The one who once persecuted us is now proclaiming the good news of the faith he once tried to destroy.”

but they only heard:“ He who once persecuted us now preaches the faith that he once tried to destroy.”

Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.For I am the least of all the apostles. In fact, I’m not even worthy to be called an apostle after the way I persecuted God’s church.But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me— and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.

“ But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias,“ I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem!

So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.

even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it:“ Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”— and I am the worst of them all.But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.

And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ He is indeed the Son of God!”

When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the believers, but they were all afraid of him. They did not believe he had truly become a believer!
