The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour[ were] two thousand and six hundred.

Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all[ them] whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which[ is] in Jerusalem.

These sought their register[ among] those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

And his brethren, men of valour,[ were] two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.

And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests’ garments.And[ some] of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.

I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and[ of] his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

These chief fathers of the Levites[ were] chief throughout their generations; these dwelt at Jerusalem.

These likewise cast lots over against their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers over against their younger brethren.

And all their villages that[ were] round about the same cities, unto Baal. These[ were] their habitations, and their genealogy.
