For seven days they celebrated with joy the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because the Lord had filled them with joy by changing the attitude of the king of Assyria so that he assisted them in the work on the house of God, the God of Israel.

For seven days they celebrated the Feast of Unleavened Bread with joy. That’s because the Lord had filled them with joy. They were glad because he had changed the mind of the king of Persia. So the king had helped them with the work on the house of the God of Israel.

And they kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with joy, for the Lord had made them joyful and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, so that he aided them in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the Lord had caused the king of Assyria to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.

They observed the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days with joy, because the LORD had made them joyful, having changed the Assyrian king’s attitude toward them, so that he supported them in the work on the house of the God of Israel.

波斯王古列元年，耶和華為要應驗他藉耶利米的口所說的話，就激動波斯王古列的心靈，使他通令全國，傳達文告說：

君王的心在耶和華手中，好像水溝的水，他可以隨意轉移。

你們既是無酵的麵，就應當把舊酵除淨，好讓你們成為新的麵團；因為我們逾越節的羊羔基督已經被殺獻祭了。所以我們守這節，不可用舊酵，也不可用又邪又惡的酵，而是要用純潔真實的無酵餅。

以斯拉說：“耶和華我們列祖的神是應該稱頌的，因為他把這樣的意念放在君王的心裡，使他修飾那在耶路撒冷的耶和華的殿；

在耶路撒冷的以色列人，都十分歡樂地守除酵節七天；利未人和祭司天天讚美耶和華，用響亮的樂器讚美耶和華。

當時在場的以色列人守逾越節，又守除酵節七天。

於是大利烏王下令說：“現在，河西那邊的總督達乃和示他．波斯乃，以及你們的同僚，就是在河西那邊的亞法薩迦人，你們要遠離那裡；不要干涉這神殿的工程，讓猶大人的總督和猶大人的長老在原來的地方重建神的這殿。我又下令你要協助這些猶大人的長老重建神的殿，你要作這事：從河西那邊交給王庫的稅收中，撥出充足的經費給他們，免得工程停頓。他們需用的甚麼東西，包括作燔祭獻給天上神的公牛犢、公綿羊和綿羊羔；還有麥子、鹽、酒和油，都要照著在耶路撒冷的祭司們所說，天天供給他們，不可疏忽，好讓他們可以獻馨香的祭給天上的神，為王和王的子孫祈求長壽。我又下令：無論甚麼人更改這命令，就要從他的房屋中拆出一根梁木，把他掛起，釘在木上；又使他的房屋成為糞堆。願那使自己的名居住在那裡的神，毀滅所有伸手更改這命令，或要毀壞這在耶路撒冷神的殿的君王和人民。我大利烏下令，必須徹底遵行。”

你要吃無酵餅七日，第七日要向耶和華守節。七日之中你要吃無酵餅；在你四境之內，不可見有發過酵之物在你面前，也不可見有酵在你那裡。

“你們要吃無酵餅七天；可是第一天就要把酵從你們的家中除去；因為從第一日起直到第七日，凡吃有酵之物的，那人必從以色列中被除滅。第一日你們要有聖會，第七日你們也要有聖會；這兩日之內，除了預備各人所要吃的以外，一切工作都不可作。你們要守無酵節，因為就在這一天，我把你們的軍隊從埃及地領出來；所以你們要世世代代守這一日作為永遠的定例。從正月十四日晚上起，直到本月二十一日晚上止，你們要吃無酵餅。七日之內在你們的家中不可有酵；因為凡吃有酵之物的，無論是外國人或是本地人，那人必從以色列的會眾中被剪除。凡是有酵的，你們都不可吃；在你們一切居住的地方，你們都要吃無酵餅。”

我要使他們從埃及地歸回，從亞述地招聚他們，帶他們到基列地和黎巴嫩山，卻仍不夠容納他們。他必經過苦難的海，擊打海中的波浪，尼羅河的深處也都要乾涸；亞述的驕傲必降為卑；埃及的權勢要過去。

除酵節的第一天，門徒前來問耶穌：“你要我們在哪裡為你預備逾越節的晚餐呢？”

人所行的，若是蒙耶和華喜悅，耶和華也使他的仇敵與他和好。

耶穌說：“如果不是從天上給你權柄，你就無權辦我；因此，把我交給你的那人，罪更重了。”

在約西亞的日子，埃及王法老尼哥上來幼發拉底河幫助（按照《馬索拉文本》，“幫助”應作“上去”）亞述王，約西亞王竟去迎戰他，法老看見他的時候，就把他殺死在米吉多。

因此耶和華領亞述王的將帥來攻打他們，用鈎子鈎著瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。
