「你去叫利未支派來協助亞倫祭司。

下面是亞倫子孫的班次。亞倫的兒子是拿答、亞比戶、以利亞撒、以他瑪。

你們要按宗族和班次，依照以色列王大衛和他兒子所羅門所寫的指示，預備自己。你們要按你們弟兄所在宗族的班次，侍立在聖所，每個班次中要有幾個利未宗族的人。

大衛年紀老邁，壽數將盡，就立他兒子所羅門為以色列王。他召集了以色列的眾首領、祭司和利未人。凡三十歲以上的利未人都在統計之列，共有三萬八千男子，其中有兩萬四千人在耶和華的殿裡司職，六千人做官長和審判官，四千人守門，四千人用大衛提供的樂器頌讚耶和華。大衛將利未人革順、哥轄和米拉利的子孫分成班次。革順的兒子有拉但和示每。拉但有長子耶歇，還有細坦和約珥，共三個兒子，都是拉但族的族長。示每的兒子有示羅密、哈薛和哈蘭三人。示每的兒子還有雅哈、細拿、耶烏施和比利亞四人。雅哈是長子，細拿是次子。耶烏施和比利亞的子孫不多，所以合為一族。哥轄有暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯崙、烏薛四個兒子。暗蘭的兒子是亞倫和摩西。亞倫和他的子孫永遠被分別出來事奉耶和華，向祂獻至聖之物，在祂面前燒香，奉祂的名祝福，直到永遠。上帝的僕人摩西的子孫歸在利未支派的名下。摩西的兒子是革舜和以利以謝。革舜的長子是細布業。以利以謝只有一個兒子利哈比雅，但利哈比雅子孫眾多。以斯哈的長子是示羅密。希伯崙的長子是耶利雅，次子是亞瑪利亞，三子是雅哈悉，四子是耶加緬。烏薛的長子是米迦，次子是耶西雅。米拉利的兒子是抹利、姆示。抹利的兒子是以利亞撒、基士。以利亞撒終生沒有兒子，只有女兒，同族人基士的兒子娶了她們為妻。姆示的三個兒子是末力、以得和耶利摩。以上是利未各宗族的子孫，他們登記在各自族長的名下，凡二十歲以上的男子都在耶和華的殿裡任職。大衛說：「以色列的上帝耶和華已使祂的子民安享太平，祂永遠住在耶路撒冷。利未人再不用抬聖幕和其中的器皿了。」

你要招聚以色列全體會眾，將利未人帶到會幕前，帶到耶和華面前，會眾要按手在他們身上。亞倫要把他們獻給耶和華，作為以色列人獻的搖祭，使他們可以事奉耶和華。利未人要按手在那兩頭公牛的頭上，然後你要把一頭作為贖罪祭，一頭作為燔祭獻給耶和華，好為利未人贖罪。你要讓利未人站在亞倫父子們面前，把他們當作搖祭獻給耶和華。這樣，你就把利未人從其他以色列人中分別出來，使他們歸給我。利未人被潔淨、當作搖祭獻上以後，就可以進會幕司職，因為在以色列人中，他們完全屬於我，我揀選他們歸我所有，以代替以色列人所有的長子。以色列人所有的長子和頭生的牲畜都屬於我。我擊殺埃及人所有的長子和頭生的牲畜那天，已把以色列人所有的長子和頭生的牲畜都分別出來，使之聖潔，歸給我。我現在已揀選利未人代替以色列人所有的長子，把他們交給亞倫父子們，替以色列人在會幕中司職，為以色列人贖罪，免得以色列人因接近聖所而遭禍。」摩西、亞倫和以色列全體會眾就按照耶和華對摩西的吩咐把利未人獻上。利未人自潔、洗淨衣服後，亞倫把他們當作搖祭獻給耶和華，又為他們贖罪，使他們潔淨。之後，利未人便進入會幕，在亞倫父子們的監督下司職。以色列人照耶和華對摩西的吩咐奉獻了利未人。耶和華對摩西說：「二十五歲以上的利未人都要到會幕司職，五十歲時退休。退休之後，他們可以協助本族弟兄看守會幕，不用再司職。你要這樣給他們分派工作。」
