在我們神的城中，在他的聖山上，耶和華是至大的，應該大受讚美。在北面的錫安山、大君王的城，美麗高聳，是全地所喜歡的。

各樣的惡事要遠離。

因為耶和華的怒氣向耶路撒冷和猶大發作，直到他把他們從自己的面前趕走。後來，西底家背叛了巴比倫王。

你們為主的緣故，要順服人的一切制度，無論是至尊的君王，或是君王所派賞善罰惡的官員；因為這是神的旨意，要藉著你們的善行，塞住糊塗無知人的口。

你說有作戰的智謀和能力，只是嘴上空言，現在你倚賴誰才背叛我呢？

“你要對那叛逆的民族說：‘你們不知道這些事是甚麼意思嗎？’你要告訴他們：‘看哪！巴比倫王曾到耶路撒冷來，把其中的王和眾領袖擄去，帶他們到巴比倫那裡去。他從以色列王室後裔中選出一人，與他立約，叫他起誓，並且把國中那些有勢力的人擄去，使國衰微，不能再興盛，唯有謹守條約他才可以繼續存在。可是這人背叛了巴比倫王，差遣使者到埃及去，要得戰馬和大軍。他能亨通嗎？行這樣事的人，怎能逃脫呢？他破壞條約，怎能逃脫呢？我指著我的永生起誓：他藐視了自己所起的誓，背棄了與王所立的約，因此他必死在巴比倫，就是那立他作王的巴比倫王的國家。這是耶和華的宣告。敵人建造圍城的高牆，築起攻城土壘要剪除多人的時候，法老率領大軍和大隊人馬，還是不能幫助他作戰。他藐視誓言，背棄條約；他已宣誓效忠，卻又行了這一切事，所以他必不能逃脫。因此主耶和華這樣說：我指著我的永生起誓：他既然藐視我的誓言，背棄我的約，我必使這罪歸到他的頭上。我要把我的網撒在他身上，他必在我的網羅中被捕獲；我要把他帶到巴比倫去，並且要在那裡因他對我不忠的罪審判他。他軍中所有的精兵（按照《馬索拉文本》，“精兵”作“逃跑的人”；現參照其他抄本、《七十士譯本》和其他古譯本翻譯），都必倒在刀下；剩下的也必分散到四方；你們就知道說這話的是我耶和華。

我下令考查，發現這城自古以來反叛列王，城中常有造反叛亂的事。

你要知道，也要明白，從發出命令恢復和重建耶路撒冷，直到受膏君的時候，必有七個七；又有六十二個七（“必有七個七；又有六十二個七”或譯：“必有七個七和六十二個七”），耶路撒冷連廣場和濠溝，都必重新建造起來；那是一段困苦的時期。

我們看這個人就像瘟疫一樣，是煽動普天下猶太人生亂的人，又是拿撒勒派的首領。

那忠貞的城，怎麼會變成妓女！她從前充滿公平，有公義居在其中，現在卻有兇手居住。你的銀子變成了渣滓，你的酒用水攙混。你的官長存心悖逆，與盜賊同夥；人都貪愛賄賂，追索私酬；他們不替孤兒伸冤，寡婦的案件也呈不到他們面前。

約雅敬在位的時候，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來攻打他，約雅敬就臣服他三年，後來卻反悔，背叛他。
