Now let us make a covenant before our God to send away all these women and their children, in accordance with the counsel of my lord and of those who fear the commands of our God. Let it be done according to the Law.

So let’s make a covenant in front of our God. Let’s promise to send away all these women and their children. That’s what you have advised us to do. Those who respect our God’s commands have given us the same advice. We want to do what the Law says.

Therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God, and let it be done according to the Law.

Let us now make a covenant with our God to divorce our pagan wives and to send them away with their children. We will follow the advice given by you and by the others who respect the commands of our God. Let it be done according to the Law of God.

「鑒於這一切，我們鄭重立約，記載下來。我們的首領、利未人和祭司都在上面蓋了印。」

我思想自己走過的路，就決定歸向你的法度。

我因敬畏你而戰抖，我懼怕你的法令。

為要接受你們的上帝耶和華與你們立的誓約。

對他說：「你去走遍耶路撒冷，在那些因城中可憎之事而歎息哀傷的人額上畫個記號。」

都跟隨他們的貴族同胞起誓要謹遵上帝藉祂僕人摩西頒佈的律法，遵守我們的主耶和華的一切誡命、典章和律例。我們不將女兒嫁給當地的人，也不為兒子娶當地的女子。如果這地方的居民在安息日或其他聖日帶來貨物和五穀要賣給我們，我們必不購買。我們每逢第七年必不耕種，也必不追討債務。我們為自己定下律例，每人每年捐獻四克銀子，供我們上帝的殿使用，以支付供餅、日常獻的素祭和燔祭，安息日、朔日和其他節期所獻的聖物，為以色列人獻上的贖罪祭，以及我們上帝殿中的各項費用。我們的祭司、利未人和民眾抽籤，決定每年哪一族要在指定的時間把獻祭時所需用的木材帶到我們上帝的殿裡，按照律法的規定燒在我們的上帝耶和華的壇上。我們把每年地裡初熟的物產和各種樹上初熟的果子獻到耶和華的殿裡。我們按照律法的規定獻上我們的長子和頭胎的牛羊，把他們帶到我們上帝的殿中，交給在那裡供職的祭司。我們把上好的麵團、舉祭、各樣果子、新酒和新油交給祭司，收進我們上帝殿的庫房裡，並把我們地裡收成的十分之一交給利未人，這是他們在我們所有城邑的出產中當收取的份。利未人收取十分之一的時候，要有亞倫子孫中的一位祭司陪同，利未人要從這十分之一中抽出十分之一帶到我們上帝的殿中，收進庫房裡。以色列人和利未人要將這些五穀、新酒和新油作為舉祭帶到收藏聖所器皿的地方，即供職的祭司、殿門守衛和歌樂手所住的房子。這樣，我們便不會忽略我們上帝的殿。

到吉甲營去見約書亞。他們對約書亞和以色列人說：「我們從很遠的地方來求你們跟我們締結盟約。」

現在我決心要與以色列的上帝耶和華立約，好使祂的烈怒轉離我們。

那天，有人給民眾宣讀摩西律法書時，發現書上說亞捫人和摩押人永不可加入上帝的會眾。因為他們沒有用食物和水接待以色列人，還雇巴蘭咒詛他們，但我們的上帝將咒詛變為祝福。以色列人聽到律法書上的話，便逐出所有外族人。

以上這些人都娶了外族女子為妻，其中有些還生了子女。

人應該遵循耶和華的訓誨和法度。人若不遵循祂的話，必看不到曙光。

一切都是我親手創造的。這是耶和華說的。我看顧謙卑、悔過、對我的話心存敬畏的人。

因為你聽到我對這地方及這裡居民的警告，便悔改，在我面前謙卑、撕裂衣服，向我哭泣，我垂聽了你的禱告。這是我耶和華說的。

如果你們悖逆，跟你們當中剩下的異族人聯合，通婚往來，毫無疑問，你們的上帝耶和華必不再為你們趕走他們。相反，他們還要成為設在你們當中的圈套和陷阱，你們的肉中刺、眼中釘，直到你們在你們的上帝耶和華所賜給你們的這塊美好的土地上滅亡。

耶何耶大讓王及民眾與耶和華立約，做耶和華的子民，也讓王與民眾立約。

「你們去為我、為以色列和猶大的餘民求問耶和華有關這書卷上的話。耶和華的烈怒已經臨到我們身上，因為我們的祖先沒有遵守耶和華的話，沒有遵行這書卷上的話。」

當時，他們發現耶和華藉摩西吩咐的律法上記載，以色列人要在七月節期期間住在棚子裡，

王站在自己的位置上，在耶和華面前立約，要全心全意地跟隨耶和華，遵從祂的一切誡命、法度和律例，履行約書上的規定。他使耶路撒冷和便雅憫的人都遵行這約。於是，耶路撒冷的居民都遵行他們祖先的上帝的約。
