In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:

It was the first year of the rule of Cyrus. He was king of Persia. The Lord inspired him to send a message all through his kingdom. It happened so that what the Lord had spoken through Jeremiah would come true. The message was written down. It said,

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the Lord fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD roused the spirit of King Cyrus to issue a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom and to put it in writing:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he sent a proclamation throughout his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying:

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, the word of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. The Lord put it into the mind of King Cyrus to issue a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom and to put it in writing:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and[ put it] also in writing, saying,

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, in order to fulfill the LORD’S message spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD stirred the mind of King Cyrus of Persia. He disseminated a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom, announcing in a written edict the following:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that Yahweh’s word by Jeremiah’s mouth might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

波斯王古列元年、永恆主為要成就他自己的話、由耶利米口中說出來的，永恆主就激動了波斯王古列的心，使他將布告傳達全國，並且是用書面傳達說：『波斯王古列這麼說：「永恆主天上的上帝已將地上萬國都賜給我，是他委派了我在猶大的耶路撒冷為他建殿。你們中間凡做他子民的都可以上去。願永恆主他的上帝與他同在。」』

『因為永恆主這麼說：為巴比倫定的七十年滿了以後，我必眷顧你們，向你們實行我嘉惠的諾言，使你們返回這地。

使他們在一切擄了他們、的人面前蒙憐憫。

王的心在永恆主手中、像隴溝的水、任隨所喜悅的而流轉。

『七十年滿了以後，永恆主發神諭說，我必察罰巴比倫王以及那國，我必鑒察他們的罪孽，察罰迦勒底人之地，使它永遠荒涼。我必使我一切的話，就是我所說攻擊那地的話，舉凡所記在這書上的，都應驗到那地。因為有許多國許多大王都要使迦勒底人做奴隸；我必照他們的行為、按他們的手所作的來報應他們。』

然而在巴比倫王古列元年，古列王下了諭旨叫猶大人建造上帝的這殿。並且上帝殿中的器皿、無論金的銀的、就是尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷的殿堂中所掠去、帶到巴比倫廟裏的、古列王也都從巴比倫廟裏取了出來，交給受派為巡撫的、名叫設巴薩；對他說：『將這些器皿帶上，去存放在耶路撒冷的殿堂中，在原處將上帝的殿建造起來。』

他們歡歡喜喜地守除酵之節七天，因為永恆主使他們歡喜，又使亞述王的心轉向他們，而加強他們的手去作以色列上帝之殿的工程。

我必將猶大的故業和以色列的故業恢復過來，建立他們如起初一樣。我必洗淨他們一切的罪孽，就是他們得罪了我所犯的；我必赦免他們一切的罪孽，就是他們得罪了我背叛了我所犯的。這城必在地上萬國人面前使我得可喜可樂的名聲，得頌讚，得榮美，因為他們必聽見我向這城的人所賜的一切福樂；因我向這城所賜的一切福樂、一切平安興隆、列國的人都必恐懼戰兢。『永恆主這麼說：論到這地方你們說它荒廢，它沒有人，沒有牲口，但在這荒涼無人無居民無牲口的猶大城市和耶路撒冷街上，就在這地方、必還再聽見有歡躍的聲音和喜樂的聲音、新郎的聲音和新婦的聲音，又有人的聲音，就是那些帶感謝祭上永恆主之殿的人在說：「你們要稱謝萬軍之永恆主，因為永恆主至善，因為他的堅愛永遠長存。」因為我必恢復這地的故業、像起初一樣；這是永恆主說的。『萬軍之永恆主這麼說：在這荒廢無人無牲口的地方、在它所有的城市中、必再有牧人的莊舍，使羊羣躺臥的地方。在山地的城市、低原的城市、南地的城市、在便雅憫地、在耶路撒冷四圍各處、在猶大的城市、必再有羊羣從數點的人手下經過：這是永恆主說的。

永恆主我們列祖的上帝是當受祝頌的，因為他將這樣的意思放在王的心意中，使他去修飾那在耶路撒冷的永恆主之殿；

尼布甲尼撒執掌國政之第二年，他作了個夢，心裏煩亂不安，使他睡不着覺。

當那些日子、施洗者約翰出來，在猶太的野地宣傳說，『你們要悔改；因為天國近了。』這人就是那藉神言人以賽亞所說的，說：『有聲音在野地裏呼喊着說：「要豫備主的道路，造直他的路徑來。」』

約翰說：『我乃是在野地裏呼喊者的聲音說：「修直主的道路」，正如神言人以賽亞所說的。』
