耶和華使迦勒底人的王起兵攻打他們，在他們的聖殿裡用刀擊殺他們的壯丁，毫不憐憫少男少女、老人和年高者。耶和華把他們全部交在他的手中。

「我們還沒在上帝的奴僕額上蓋印之前，你們不可傷害地、海和樹木。」

明知主人的意思卻不準備，也不遵行主人吩咐的僕人，必受更重的責打。

因為時候到了，審判要先從上帝的家開始。如果審判要從我們開始，那些不信從上帝福音的人會有怎樣的結局呢？如果義人得救尚且不易，不敬虔的人和罪人會有什麼下場呢？

我們攻佔了西宏的所有城邑，將其夷為平地，殺光城中的男女老幼，一個不留，

你現在要去攻打他們，徹底消滅他們和他們擁有的一切，把男女老幼、牛羊駱駝和驢全部殺掉，一個不留。』」

要把這座城和城裡所有的東西毀滅，作為獻給耶和華之物。只有妓女喇合和她家中所有的人可以活命，因為她曾把我們派去的探子隱藏起來。你們要小心，不可私拿任何應當毀滅的東西，免得你們自取滅亡，並給以色列全營帶來災禍。要把所有的金銀和銅鐵器皿分別出來獻給耶和華，放進耶和華的庫房裡。」於是，民眾聽到號角聲時，就高聲呐喊，城牆便坍塌了。民眾便一擁而上，佔領了耶利哥城，用刀殺了城裡所有的男女老少、牛羊和驢。約書亞對那兩個探子說：「你們到那個妓女家裡，照著你們向她起過的誓，把她和她的家人都帶出來。」於是，那兩個年輕探子便進去，把喇合和她的父母、兄弟及所有的親人都帶出來，安置在以色列人的營外。以色列人燒毀全城和城內一切的東西，只把金銀和銅鐵器皿放在耶和華的庫房裡。約書亞因為妓女喇合把兩個探子隱藏起來，就饒了她和她一家人的性命。他們至今仍住在以色列人當中。

我們來攻佔這座城的時候，你要把這條朱紅色的繩子繫在縋我們下去的窗戶上，並且把你的父母、兄弟、姊妹和他們的親人都召集到你家裡。倘若有人因離開這房子跑到街上而遭遇不測，我們不負任何責任。我們一定保證屋內所有人的性命安全。

說：「你們為什麼讓這些婦女活著？就是她們聽了巴蘭的指使在毗珥引誘以色列人背叛耶和華，以致瘟疫降在耶和華的會眾身上。現在，你們要殺掉所有的男孩以及與男人發生過關係的女子，

『世上萬族之中，我只揀選了你們，所以我要因你們的罪惡而懲罰你們。』」

那時，靈將我舉起，帶我到耶和華殿的東門，我見那裡有二十五個人，當中有百姓的首領押朔的兒子雅撒尼亞和比拿雅的兒子毗拉提。

像對付希實本王西宏一樣，我們將這些城邑夷為平地，城中的男女老幼一個不留，

祂對我說：「人子啊，你舉目北望。」於是，我舉目朝北一望，見在祭壇門的北面有惹耶和華憤恨的神像。祂又對我說：「人子啊，你看見以色列人的所作所為了嗎？他們在這裡行那些極其可憎的事，以致我遠離我的聖所。你會看到更可憎的事。」祂帶我到院子的門口，我看見牆上有一個洞。祂對我說：「人子啊，你挖這牆。」我挖開牆後，看見一道門。祂對我說：「你進去看看他們在這裡做的邪惡可憎的事吧。」我進去後，看見四周的牆上畫滿了各種爬蟲、可憎的獸類和以色列人拜的神像。神像前面站著以色列的七十個長老，沙番的兒子雅撒尼亞也在當中，他們每人手中都拿著香爐，煙霧繚繞。祂又對我說：「人子啊，你看見以色列的長老在自己藏神像的房間裡暗中所做的了嗎？他們說，『耶和華看不見我們，祂已經拋棄了這片土地。』」祂繼續說：「你會看到他們做更可憎的事。」祂帶我來到耶和華的殿外院的北門，看見一些婦女坐在那裡為搭模斯神像哭泣。祂對我說：「人子啊，你看見了嗎？你會看到更可憎的事。」祂帶我來到耶和華殿的內院，在殿門口，走廊和祭壇中間約有二十五個人背向耶和華的殿，面向東方朝拜太陽。

這些人從未沾染過婦女，都是童身。無論羔羊往哪裡去，他們都緊隨其後。他們是從世人中被贖出來的，作為初熟的果實獻給上帝和羔羊。
