恐怖的日子來臨了，他們想尋求平安，卻得不到平安。

When terror comes, they will seek peace in vain.

“‘ When terror comes, they will look for peace. But there will not be any.

When anguish comes, they will seek peace, but there shall be none.

Terror and trembling will overcome my people. They will look for peace but not find it.

因為他們欺騙我的子民說，『平安！』其實並沒有平安，就像有人築了一道薄牆，用白灰加以粉飾。

我的上帝說：「他們必得不到平安。」

我們望眼欲穿，盼望援軍的到來，盼來的國家卻無力拯救我們。敵人步步緊逼，使我們不敢上自己的街。我們的結局近了，我們的日子到頭了，我們的末日來了！

他們就是那些向耶路撒冷說假預言，在沒有平安的時候宣稱看到了平安異象的以色列先知。這是主耶和華說的。」

我們期待平安，卻沒有平安；渴望得到醫治，卻飽受驚嚇。「從但傳來敵人戰馬的嘶鳴，聲音震動大地。他們要來吞滅我們的土地和作物、城邑和居民。

瑪律的居民痛苦不堪，渴望得到拯救，因為耶和華已把災難降到耶路撒冷的城門。

你們不知道平安之路，你們的行徑毫無公正；你們走歪門邪道，跟從你們的必得不到平安。因此，正義遠離我們，公義臨不到我們。我們渴望光明，卻得到黑暗；我們渴望曙光，卻仍然走在幽暗中。我們像盲人一樣沿牆摸索，像無眼睛的人一樣探路。我們在中午也跌跌撞撞，如同走在晚上。我們在強壯人當中如同死人。我們像熊一樣咆哮，如鴿子一般哀鳴。我們渴望正義，卻得不到；渴望得到拯救，卻遙不可及。因為我們在上帝面前過犯纍纍，我們的罪惡向我們發出控訴。我們被過犯纏身，自知有罪。
