“‘ They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean. Their silver and gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath. It will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs, for it has caused them to stumble into sin.

“‘ They will throw their silver into the streets. They will treat their gold like an“ unclean” thing. Their silver and gold won’t be able to save them on the day I pour out my anger. It will not be able to satisfy their hunger. Their stomachs can’t be filled with it. Their silver and gold have tripped them up. It has made them fall into sin.

“ They will throw their money in the streets, tossing it out like worthless trash. Their silver and gold won’t save them on that day of the Lord’s anger. It will neither satisfy nor feed them, for their greed can only trip them up.

當永恆主震怒的日子、他們的銀子或金子都不能援救他們；但在永恆主妒憤的怒火中全地都必被燒滅；因為他必將這地所有的居民完全毁滅，而且很可怕地毁滅。

當上帝震怒的日子、財富也無益；惟有仁義的賙濟能援救人免致早死。

『人子啊，這些人將他們的偶像接上心頭，把陷於他們罪孽中的因由放在自己面前，我哪能讓他們求問甚麼呢？故此你要告訴他們說：主永恆主這麼說：以色列家的人中間、每一個將他的偶像接上心頭、把陷於他罪孽中的因由放在自己面前、又前來見神言人的，我必按他眾多的偶像親自應付他，

因為以色列家的人或是在以色列中寄居的外國僑民，凡跟我疏遠、將他的偶像接上心頭，把陷於他罪孽中的因由放在自己面前，又前來見神言人、要為自己的事向我求問的，我必親自應付他；

因為這些利未人曾在他們的偶像面前伺候這人民，就成了絆腳物使以色列家陷於罪孽中；故此我舉手起誓論到他們，主永恆主發神諭說，他們須要擔受他們自己的罪罰。

『壞事在他口中雖生甘甜，他雖給藏於舌頭底下，顧惜不肯放棄，含住於口中，但他的食物在肚腹中卻要變壞，在臟腑裏卻要成為虺蛇毒質。他吞了資財，又再吐出；上帝從他腹中掏出來。他吸飲着虺蛇之毒；蝮蛇的舌頭把他殺了。他必不得觀覽河道，與流蜜和奶酪的江河谿谷。他勞碌得來的必還人家，自己吞喫不着；他不能按交易所得的資財去歡樂。因為他壓制了貧寒人，棄而不顧；他霸佔人的房屋，自己不得重建。『因為他心裏不認識安寧；他的珍寶、他也不能保全。殘存的、他沒有一樣不吞喫——故此他的福樂不能持久。他滿足有餘時、反而困苦；凡受苦楚的人、都要下手批擊他。但願他的肚腹得滿足啊！上帝必打發猛烈怒氣到他身上；如雨下於他身上、做他的食物。

然後對自己說，人哪，你有許多財物存放着、做許多年的用處；你安逸度日，喫喝快樂吧！」但上帝卻對他說：「糊塗人哪，就在今天夜裏，你的財物就要要你的命了！你所豫備的、要歸誰呢？」

你那包銀的雕像和鍍金的鑄像、你們都要作為俗用，都要撒掉，如同月經布；對它說：『去吧！』

你們為甚麼花錢去買那不是食物的？為甚麼用你們勞碌得來的去買那不能使人飽足的呢？你們要注意聽我，就得以喫美物，心中以肥甘為樂趣。

當那日子、人必將他們為自己所造去敬拜的銀偶相金偶相拋給挖窩的田鼠和蝙蝠，

人若贏得全世界，卻賠上自己的性命，能得着甚麼益處呢？人要拿出甚麼來對換自己的性命呢？

貪愛銀子的、不因得銀子而知足；貪愛財富的、不因得收入而知足；這也是虛空。

但他們所貪慾的、他們還沒有生厭，食物還在他們口中時，上帝的怒氣就向他們上騰了，殺了他們中間肥壯的人，使以色列精兵屈身而死。

大衛也說：『願他們的筵席對他們成了網羅，成了機檻，成了絆跌物，又成了報應；

所以他們在黃昏時候起來逃跑，撇下他們的帳棚、馬、驢、——營盤都照舊——只顧逃命。那些患痲瘋屬之病的來到營盤邊兒，進了一座帳棚，又喫又喝，又從那裏拿起銀子金子和衣服，去私藏着；回來，又進了另一座帳棚，又從那裏拿起東西去私藏着。

使者追尋到約但河，看見路上滿是亞蘭人慌慌張張時所丟棄的衣服和器物，就回來，向王報告。
