“‘ A priest must not defile himself by going near a dead person; however, if the dead person was his father or mother, son or daughter, brother or unmarried sister, then he may defile himself.

“ A priest must not make himself‘ unclean’ by going near a dead person. But suppose the dead person was his father or mother. Or suppose it was his son or daughter or brother or unmarried sister. Then the priest may make himself‘ unclean.’

They shall not defile themselves by going near to a dead person. However, for father or mother, for son or daughter, for brother or unmarried sister they may defile themselves.

“ A priest must not defile himself by being in the presence of a dead person unless it is his father, mother, child, brother, or unmarried sister. In such cases it is permitted.

They shall not go to a dead person to defile themselves; however, for father, for mother, for son, for daughter, for brother, or for a sister who has not had a husband, they may defile themselves.

“ They shall not defile themselves by coming near a dead person. Only for father or mother, for son or daughter, for brother or unmarried sister may they defile themselves.

And they shall go in to no dead person to defile themselves; but for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister that hath had no husband, they may defile themselves.

From now on, then, we do not know anyone from a worldly perspective. Even if we have known Christ from a worldly perspective, yet now we no longer know him in this way.

No man of Aaron’s descendants who has a skin disease or a discharge is to eat from the holy offerings until he is clean. Whoever touches anything made unclean by a dead person or by a man who has an emission of semen,

The LORD said to Moses,“ Speak to Aaron’s sons, the priests, and tell them: A priest is not to make himself ceremonially unclean for a dead person among his relatives,except for his immediate family: his mother, father, son, daughter, or brother.He may make himself unclean for his unmarried virgin sister in his immediate family.He is not to make himself unclean for those related to him by marriage and so defile himself.“ Priests may not make bald spots on their heads, shave the edge of their beards, or make gashes on their bodies.They are to be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God. For they present the food offerings to the LORD, the food of their God, and they must be holy.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

Then he said to another,“ Follow me.”“ Lord,” he said,“ first let me go bury my father.”But he told him,“ Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and spread the news of the kingdom of God.”

“ Lord,” another of his disciples said,“ first let me go bury my father.”But Jesus told him,“ Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
