若有人無可指責，只做過一個婦人的丈夫，有兒女是信徒、而沒有被控告為放蕩或不服約束的，才可以擔任。

他們的妻子也要這樣：應當莊重，不說讒言，能戒酒，凡事可信靠。執事應當只做過一個婦人的丈夫，好好地督導兒女和自己的家。

所以監督應當無可指摘，只做過一個婦人的丈夫，能節制、克己、雅素、樂意款待旅客、善於教導；

好好督導自己的家、使兒女們安於順服、兼有十二分的莊重。人若不曉得督導自己的家，怎能照顧上帝的教會呢？
