“‘ But the Levitical priests, who are descendants of Zadok and who guarded my sanctuary when the Israelites went astray from me, are to come near to minister before me; they are to stand before me to offer sacrifices of fat and blood, declares the Sovereign Lord.

“ But the priests must approach me to serve me. They are Levites from Zadok’s family line. They guarded my temple when the people of Israel turned away from me. These priests must serve me by offering sacrifices of fat and blood,” announces the Lord and King.

“ But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the people of Israel went astray from me, shall come near to me to minister to me. And they shall stand before me to offer me the fat and the blood, declares the Lord God.

“ However, the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok continued to minister faithfully in the Temple when Israel abandoned me for idols. These men will serve as my ministers. They will stand in my presence and offer the fat and blood of the sacrifices, says the Sovereign Lord.

When you brought in foreigners, uncircumcised in both heart and flesh, to occupy my sanctuary, you defiled my temple while you offered my food— the fat and the blood. You broke my covenant by all your detestable practices.

You are to give a bull from the herd as a sin offering to the Levitical priests who are from the offspring of Zadok, who approach me in order to serve me.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.

The chamber that faces north is for the priests who keep charge of the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, the ones from the sons of Levi who may approach the LORD to serve him.”

Then he showed me the high priest Joshua standing before the angel of the LORD, with Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.The LORD said to Satan,“ The LORD rebuke you, Satan! This is so the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they have been offering in the open country. They are to bring them to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting and offer them as fellowship sacrifices to the LORD.The priest will then splatter the blood on the LORD’s altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting and burn the fat as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

“ At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the LORD’s covenant, to stand before the LORD to serve him, and to pronounce blessings in his name, as it is today.

Then the priest will burn the food on the altar, as a food offering for a pleasing aroma.“ All fat belongs to the LORD.This is a permanent statute throughout your generations, wherever you live: you must not eat any fat or any blood.”

“ Write to the angel of the church in Ephesus: Thus says the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and who walks among the seven golden lampstands:

not an excessive drinker, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy.He must manage his own household competently and have his children under control with all dignity.( If anyone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s church?)He must not be a new convert, or he might become conceited and incur the same condemnation as the devil.Furthermore, he must have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he does not fall into disgrace and the devil’s trap.Deacons, likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money,holding the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.They must also be tested first; if they prove blameless, then they can serve as deacons.

The Levitical priests will never fail to have a man always before me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices.”

Surely the Levites who wandered away from me when Israel went astray, and who strayed from me after their idols, will bear the consequences of their iniquity.
