They may serve in my sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and serving in it; they may slaughter the burnt offerings and sacrifices for the people and stand before the people and serve them.

They might serve in my temple. They might be in charge of its gates. They might kill the burnt offerings and sacrifices for the people. And they might stand in front of the people and serve them in other ways.

They shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having oversight at the gates of the temple and ministering in the temple. They shall slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before the people, to minister to them.

They may still be Temple guards and gatekeepers, and they may slaughter the animals brought for burnt offerings and be present to help the people.

Yet they will occupy my sanctuary, serving as guards at the temple gates and ministering at the temple. They will slaughter the burnt offerings and other sacrifices for the people and will stand before them to serve them.

Yet they shall be ministers in My sanctuary, having oversight at the gates of the house and ministering in the house; they shall slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister to them.

但祭司人数太少，剥不完燔祭牲的皮，于是他们的亲族利未人就来帮助他们，直到献完燔祭，并且别的祭司也洁净了自己，因为利未人比祭司更诚心洁净自己。

他对我说：“向南的厢房是给殿内供职的祭司用的，

以下是殿门守卫的班次：可拉族亚萨的后代有可利的儿子米施利米雅。米施利米雅的长子是撒迦利亚，次子是耶叠，三子是西巴第雅，四子是耶提聂，五子是以拦，六子是约哈难，七子是以利约乃。俄别·以东的长子是示玛雅，次子是约萨拔，三子是约亚，四子是沙甲，五子是拿坦业，六子是亚米利，七子是以萨迦，八子是毗乌利太。上帝特别赐福俄别·以东。他儿子示玛雅有几个儿子都很能干，在各自的家族中做首领。他们是俄得尼、利法益、俄备得、以利萨巴。他们的亲族以利户和西玛迦也很能干。这些都是俄别·以东的子孙，他们和他们的儿子及亲族共有六十二人，都是能干称职的人。米施利米雅的儿子及亲族共十八人，都很能干。米拉利的后代何萨的长子是申利，他本来不是长子，是被他父亲立为长子的。次子是希勒迦，三子是底巴利雅，四子是撒迦利亚。何萨的儿子及亲族共十三人。这些按族长分成小组的殿门守卫在耶和华的殿里按班次供职，与他们的亲族一样。他们无论大小，都按照族系抽签，以决定看守哪个门。示利米雅抽中东门，他儿子撒迦利亚是个精明的谋士，抽中北门。俄别·以东抽中南门，他儿子抽中库房。书聘和何萨抽中西门和上行之路的沙利基门，两班相对而立。每天有六个利未人守东门，四人守北门，四人守南门，守库房的二人一组。守卫西面街道的有四人，守卫走廊的有二人。以上是可拉的子孙和米拉利的子孙守门的班次。

因为会众中间有许多人没有洁净自己，利未人就为所有不洁之人宰逾越节的羊羔献给耶和华。

然而，我要委派他们管理圣殿，办理殿中所有的事务。

我已从以色列人中选出你们的利未亲族归给我，协助你们在会幕中司职。

一切都准备好后，依照王的吩咐，祭司站在自己的地方，利未人按照班次侍立。利未人宰杀逾越节的羊羔，祭司从他们手中接过血，洒在坛上，又剥去祭牲的皮。

耶和华对摩西说：“你去叫利未支派来协助亚伦祭司。他们要为亚伦和全体会众在会幕司职，办理圣幕的事务，也要负责看守会幕里面的器具，为以色列人办理圣幕的事务。你要把利未人交给亚伦父子们，因为他们是从以色列人中选出来协助亚伦的。你要指派亚伦父子们尽祭司的职分，其他人若走近圣幕，必被处死。”耶和华又对摩西说：“我从以色列人中拣选利未人代替以色列人所有的长子。利未人要属于我，因为所有头生的都属于我。我杀死埃及人所有的长子和头生的牲畜那天，已把以色列人所有的长子和头生的牲畜都分别出来，使之圣洁，归给我，我是耶和华。”耶和华在西奈旷野对摩西说：“你要按利未人的宗族和家系统计他们的人口，登记所有年龄在一个月以上的男性。”于是，摩西照耶和华的吩咐统计利未人。利未的儿子是革顺、哥辖和米拉利。革顺的儿子依次是立尼和示每。哥辖的儿子依次是暗兰、以斯哈、希伯仑和乌薛。米拉利的儿子依次是抹利和姆示。他们按家系都属于利未人的宗族。革顺宗族有立尼和示每两个家族，其中年龄在一个月以上的男性共七千五百人。革顺宗族的人要在圣幕的后面，即西面安营，拉伊勒的儿子以利雅萨做首领。他们负责看守会幕，即圣幕、圣幕的罩棚、顶盖和门帘、围绕圣幕和祭坛的院子的帷幔、门帘、绳索及一切相关的物品。哥辖宗族有暗兰家族、以斯哈家族、希伯仑家族和乌薛家族，其中年龄在一个月以上的男性共有八千六百人，他们负责看守圣所。哥辖宗族的人要在圣幕南面安营，乌薛的儿子以利撒反做首领。他们负责照管约柜、桌子、灯台、两座坛、圣所里面的器具、幔子等一切物品。亚伦祭司的儿子以利亚撒是利未人的最高首领，负责监督在圣所工作的人。米拉利宗族有抹利和姆示两个家族，其中年龄在一个月以上的男性共六千二百人，亚比亥的儿子苏列做首领。他们要在圣幕的北面安营，负责照管圣幕的木板、横闩、柱子、带凹槽的底座和圣幕的一切器具，以及院子四周的柱子、带凹槽的底座、橛子和绳索。
