And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them,‘ These are the Lord’s people, and yet they had to leave his land.’

They treated my name as if it were not holy. They did it everywhere they went among the nations. People said about them,‘ They are the Lord’ s people. But they were forced to leave his land.’

But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that people said of them,‘ These are the people of the Lord, and yet they had to go out of his land.’

But when they were scattered among the nations, they brought shame on my holy name. For the nations said,‘ These are the people of the Lord, but he couldn’t keep them safe in his own land!’

When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, because it was said about them,‘ These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave his land in exile.’

現在呢、我在這裏作甚麼？永恆主說：我的人民無緣無故地被擄，轄制他們的大肆咆哮，我的名終日不斷被藐視！

『這人民講些甚麼話你沒有看明白麼？他們說：「永恆主所揀選的二族、他已經棄絕了」，因此列國的人就藐視我的人民，不再拿他們當列國中的一國看待。

摩西便求永恆主他的上帝的情面，說：『永恆主啊，你為甚麼向你的人民發怒呢？這人民是你用大能用大力的手從埃及地領出來的呀！為甚麼讓埃及人議論說：「他領他們出去是要降災禍的，要在山中把他們殺死，將他們從地上滅盡」呢？求你回心轉意，不發烈怒；求你改變心意、不對你人民降災禍。求你懷念你的僕人亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列；你曾指着自己向他們起誓，說：「我必使你們的後裔增多、像天上的星；我必將我所說到的這全地給你們的後裔；他們必永遠承受為產業。」』

迦南人和這地所有的居民聽見了，一定會把我們圍住，將我們的名從地上剪除掉；那時你為你至大之名要怎麼辦呢？』

但我卻要留下他們少數的人免遭刀劍、免受饑荒、免患瘟疫，使他們在所到的列國中敘說他們一切可厭惡之像的事，他們就知道我乃是永恆主。』

這些國家的神有誰曾援救過他們的本地脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能援救耶路撒冷脫離我的手麼？」』

也不要讓希西家使你們倚靠耶和華、說：『耶和華一定會援救我們，而這城必不至於交在亞述王手裏。」

如今你若把這人民殺死，如同殺死一人，那麼那些聽見你名聲的外國人就會議論說：「這是因為永恆主不能把這人民領進他向他們起誓應許之地、故此在曠野把他們宰殺掉了。」

如今你們若準備得好，甚麼時候你們聽見號角、簫笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、風笛、和各樣樂器的聲音，若俯伏向我所造的像下拜，卻還可以；若不下拜，就必須立刻被扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中；試問有甚麼樣的神能解救你們脫離我的手呢？』

『你們去對猶大王希西家這麼說：「不要讓你的上帝、你所倚靠的神欺哄你說：耶路撒冷必不至於交在亞述王手裏。看哪，你總聽說過亞述諸王怎樣將各地盡行毁滅歸神罷；難道你還能得援救麼？我列祖所毁滅的國：歌散、哈蘭、利色、和在提拉撒的伊甸人：這些國的神何曾援救過它呢？
