And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them,‘ These are the Lord’s people, and yet they had to leave his land.’

They treated my name as if it were not holy. They did it everywhere they went among the nations. People said about them,‘ They are the Lord’ s people. But they were forced to leave his land.’

But when they were scattered among the nations, they brought shame on my holy name. For the nations said,‘ These are the people of the Lord, but he couldn’t keep them safe in his own land!’

When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, because it was said about them,‘ These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave his land in exile.’

But Moses implored the Lord his God and said,“ O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?Why should the Egyptians say,‘ With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people.Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them,‘ I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it and will surround us and cut off our name from the earth. And what will you do for your great name?”

But I will let a few of them escape from the sword, from famine and pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the Lord.”

Who among all the gods of the lands have delivered their lands out of my hand, that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?’”

Do not let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord by saying, The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’

Now if you kill this people as one man, then the nations who have heard your fame will say,‘ It is because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to give to them that he has killed them in the wilderness.’

Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”

“ Thus shall you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah:‘ Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you by promising that Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, devoting them to destruction. And shall you be delivered?Have the gods of the nations delivered them, the nations that my fathers destroyed, Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar?
