永恆主因你們行為之敗壞、因你們所行可厭惡的事、再也不能容忍，故此你們的地才荒廢，成了令人驚駭、令人咒詛的對象，沒有人居住、就如今日一樣。

『永恆主這麼說：那些支持埃及的也必傾覆，她勢力所驕矜的必下來：從密奪到色弗尼人都必在她境內倒斃於刀下：這是主永恆主發神諭說的。埃及在荒涼的列邦中必成為荒涼；埃及城在荒廢的城市中必變成了荒廢。

這一帶全地都必變成荒涼，成了令人驚駭的對象；這些國的人必服事巴比倫王七十年。

我說：『主啊，這到幾時為止呢？』他說：『直到城市荒廢，無人居住，房屋空閒無人，地土廢置荒涼：

我必使耶路撒冷變成亂堆，作為野狗的住處；我必使猶大的城市荒涼，無人居住。

『人子啊，你要將臉向着以色列眾山，傳神言攻擊它們說：以色列眾山哪，要聽主永恆主的話；主永恆主對山和岡陵、對溪河跟平谷這麼說：看吧、我，我必使刀劍臨到你們，也必毁壞你們的邱壇。你們的祭壇必荒涼，你們的香壇必被破毁；我要使你們被刺死的人倒在你們的偶像面前。我要將以色列人的屍身放在他們的偶像面前，使你們的骸骨四散在你們的祭壇四圍。你們無論住在甚麼地方，城市必變為荒場，邱壇必淒涼，以致你們的祭壇荒廢淒涼，你們的偶像被打破被毁壞，你們的香壇被砍下，你們製做的偶像被掃滅。

這是要成就永恆主的話、由耶利米口中說出來的、說：直到這地享滿了安息為止；因為儘這地荒涼的日子，這地總是守着安息，直守滿了七十年。

『我呼喚，他們既怎樣不聽，那麼他們呼求，我也就照樣不聞了』：這是萬軍之永恆主說的。『我用旋風吹散他們到他們所不認識的列國去。這樣、國土在他們去後也就變為荒涼，甚至無人來回經過；因為他們使可喜愛之地荒涼了。』

在所有過路之人眼中看來、這地雖然荒涼，但這荒涼之地必仍得耕種。人們必說：「這先前荒涼之地、如今已像伊甸園了；這些荒廢淒涼毁壞的城市、如今已有堡壘、有人居住了。」

有居民的城市必變為荒廢，這地必成為荒涼；你們就知道我乃是永恆主。』

我必使這地荒涼，因為他們行事不忠實：這是主永恆主發神諭說的。』

『永恆主發神諭說：看吧，我要差人去召許多打魚的，把以色列人打上來；然後我要差人去召許多打獵的，從各山上、各岡陵上，各碞石縫兒，把他們都獵取了來。

故此以色列眾山哪，你們要聽主永恆主的話；主永恆主對山和岡陵、對溪河跟平谷、對淒涼荒廢之地、對被棄之城、被四圍其餘外國人所掠劫所嗤笑的、這麼說：
