I made the nations tremble at the sound of its fall when I brought it down to the realm of the dead to be with those who go down to the pit. Then all the trees of Eden, the choicest and best of Lebanon, the well- watered trees, were consoled in the earth below.

亦將震動萬國、萬國之珍寶萬國之珍寶或作萬國所慕者又作萬國之可慕者將至、我將以榮耀充盈此殿、萬有之主已言之矣、

當時地大震、城傾圮十分之一、死於地震者七千人、餘者驚懼、歸榮天主、

天下諸王、素與彼行淫、奢侈宴樂、見焚之之煙、必為之悲痛號泣、因懼其苦而遠立、云、廣大鞏固之邑巴比倫、頃刻間爾之刑至矣、哀哉、哀哉、天下商賈、亦必為之號泣悲痛、因不復有購其貨者、其貨乃金銀、寶石、珍珠、枲布、紫色染料、絲、絳色染料、各種香木、象牙諸器、佳木諸器、銅鐵及白玉諸器、又有肉桂香品、沒藥乳香、酒油、細麵、麥、牛羊、車馬、奴婢、巴比倫乎、爾所嗜之果實無有矣、肥美光澤之物亦無有矣、爾不復能得之、販此物之商賈、由巴比倫致富者、因懼其苦而遠立、號泣悲痛、曰、此大邑衣以枲布紫絳之衣、飾以金珠寶石、富有如此之大、頃刻間消滅、哀哉、哀哉、凡舟長舟子、及乘舟者、與諸航海之商旅、皆遠立、見焚彼之煙、呼曰、何邑能比此大邑乎、以塵埃蒙首、蒙首原文作撒於首號泣悲痛、呼曰、此大邑以其珍寶、使凡操舟於海者致富、頃刻間成為荒墟、哀哉、哀哉、天乎、諸聖徒及諸先知乎、爾曹當歡樂、因天主已報之為爾伸冤、○有一大力之天使、舉石大如磨磐者投於海、曰、巴比倫大邑、亦必如是猝然傾頹、不復得見、鼓琴、作樂、品簫、吹角之聲、不復聞於爾間、百工不復見於爾間、磨聲不復聞於爾間、燈光不復照於爾間、新娶者與新婦之聲、不復聞於爾間、爾之商賈、乃世之居尊位者、萬國皆以爾巫術而迷惑、諸先知與聖徒及天下一切見殺者之血、皆見於此邑中、

爾榮華威勢俱備者、可在伊甸園諸樹中比誰乎、必下幽冥之所、與伊甸園諸樹無異、必臥在亡於刃者不潔不潔原文作未受割禮下同之人中、即法老與其群眾所遇如此、此乃主天主所言、
