Will you then say,“ I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you? You will be but a mortal, not a god, in the hands of those who slay you.

Then will you say,‘ I am a god’? Will you say that to those who kill you? You will be only a human being to those who kill you. You will not be a god to them.

Will you still say,‘ I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who slay you?

Will you then boast,‘ I am a god!’ to those who kill you? To them you will be no god but merely a man!

Will you still say,“ I am a god,” in the presence of those who slay you? Yet you will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.

Will you still say,“ I am a god,” In the presence of one who kills you, Though you are a mortal and not God, In the hands of those who wound you?

“ Will you still say before him who slays you,‘ I am a god’? But you shall be a man, and not a god, In the hand of him who slays you.

Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou art man, and not God, in the hand of him that woundeth thee.

『人子啊，你要對推羅的人君說：主永恆主這麼說：『因你心裏高傲，說：「我乃是神；我在海中心，坐神的寶座」；其實你不過是人，並不是神，儘管你居心、自以為有神的心機。——

埃及人不過是人，並不是神；他們的馬不過是血肉，並不是靈；永恆主一伸手，那幫助人的就絆跌，那受幫助的也必跌倒，二者就同歸於盡。

其實你們是會死的，像世人一樣；王子們哪，你們都必一概倒斃。』

這話在王口中，還未說完，就有聲音從天上傳下來，說：『尼布甲尼撒王啊，有神言是對你說的：國權已經離開了你了。你必被趕逐離開人類，你的住處必同山野的走獸在一起；你必受迫而喫草如牛，經過七個時期，等到你承認至高者在人國中掌權，他喜歡將國賜給誰，就賜給誰。』

竟對着天上的主高抬自己，叫人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前，你和你大臣、王后、妃嬪竟用這些器皿來喝酒；你又稱頌那些金銀銅鐵、木頭石頭的神，就是那些不能看、不能聽、不能知道的；至於那手中執掌你氣息、那管理你一生行程的上帝、你卻不將尊榮歸與他。『於是從「神在」那裏就有手掌伸出，這文字便題簽出來。以下這句就是所題簽的文字：「彌尼，彌尼，提客勒，烏法珥新。」『這話的解析是這樣：「彌尼」即是：「上帝已經數算了你執掌國政的年日，使它終止」；「提客勒」即是：「你被稱在天平裏，被發現為虧欠的」；「毘勒斯」即是：「你的國崩裂了、歸與瑪代和波斯人。」』於是伯沙撒下了令，人就把紫紅色袍給但以理穿上，把金鍊給他帶在脖子上；又傳出有關於他的公布：使他在國中掌權、居第三位。就在那一夜、迦勒底王伯沙撒就被弒殺了。

民眾喊叫說：『是神的聲音，不是人的聲音哪！』主的使者立時擊打希律，因為他不將榮耀歸與上帝，他被蟲子咬，就氣絕了。
