Will you then say,“ I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you? You will be but a mortal, not a god, in the hands of those who slay you.

Then will you say,‘ I am a god’? Will you say that to those who kill you? You will be only a human being to those who kill you. You will not be a god to them.

Will you still say,‘ I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who slay you?

Will you then boast,‘ I am a god!’ to those who kill you? To them you will be no god but merely a man!

Will you still say,“ I am a god,” in the presence of those who slay you? Yet you will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.

Will you still say,“ I am a god,” In the presence of one who kills you, Though you are a mortal and not God, In the hands of those who wound you?

“ Will you still say before him who slays you,‘ I am a god’? But you shall be a man, and not a god, In the hand of him who slays you.

Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou art man, and not God, in the hand of him that woundeth thee.

Will you still say,‘ I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you? Yet you will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.

“人子啊！你要对推罗的君王说：‘主耶和华这样说：因为你心里高傲，说：我是神；我在海的中心、坐在神的宝座上。其实你不过是人，并不是神，你心里却自以为是神。

埃及人是人，并不是神；他们的马匹是血肉，并不是灵；耶和华一伸手，那帮助人的就绊倒，那受帮助的也必仆倒，并且一同灭亡。

然而，你们要像世人一样死亡，像世上任何一位领袖一样倒毙。”

这话在王的口中还没有说完，就有声音从天上传下来，说：“尼布甲尼撒王啊！有话对你说：你的王权被褫夺了。你必被赶逐，离开人群，和野地的走兽同住；你必像牛一样吃草，要经过七年的时期；等到你承认至高者在世人的国中掌权，他喜欢把国赐给谁，就赐给谁。”

竟高抬自己，敌对天上的主，使人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前来，你和你的大臣、妻妾、妃嫔用这些器皿喝酒；你又赞美那些不能看见、不能听见、什么都不能知道，用金、银、铜、铁、木、石所做的神，却没有把荣耀归给那手中有你的气息，和那掌管你一切命途的神。因此，有手从神那里伸出来，写了这文字。“所写的文字是：‘弥尼，弥尼，提客勒，乌法珥新。’这文字的意思是这样：‘弥尼’就是神已数算了你国度的年日，使国终止；‘提客勒’就是你被称在天平上，显出你的缺欠；‘毗勒斯’（“毗勒斯”即“乌法珥新”的单数式）就是你的国要分裂，归给玛代人和波斯人。”于是伯沙撒下令，人就把紫袍给但以理穿上，把金链戴在他的颈上，又宣告他在国中掌权，位列第三。当夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被杀。

群众大声说：“这是神的声音，不是人的声音！”他不归荣耀给神，所以主的使者立刻击打他，他被虫咬，就断了气。
