On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in my house.

They have sacrificed their children to their gods. On that same day they entered my temple and made it‘ unclean.’ That is what they have done in my house.

For when they had slaughtered their children in sacrifice to their idols, on the same day they came into my sanctuary to profane it. And behold, this is what they did in my house.

耶和華說：「先知和祭司都不敬虔，我甚至看見他們在我的聖殿裡行惡。

他們的表情顯出他們心術不正，他們跟所多瑪人一樣對自己的罪惡津津樂道，毫不隱瞞。他們必大禍臨頭，自招毀滅。

「『然而，你們竟相信那些空洞的謊言。你們偷盜、謀殺、通姦、起假誓、向巴力獻祭、拜素不認識的神明，然後來到這用來敬拜我的殿，站在我面前說自己安全了，以為可以繼續做可憎之事。難道這用來敬拜我的殿在你們眼中竟成了賊窩？這些事，我都看在眼裡。這是耶和華說的。

我所愛的子民既然罪惡滔天，還在我殿裡做什麼？難道祭肉可以為他們消災免禍嗎？他們以作惡為樂。

同時，她們還在同一天玷污我的聖所，褻瀆我的安息日，

城裡的首領為貪贓而枉法，祭司為銀子而施教，先知為錢財而占卜。他們卻宣稱倚靠耶和華，說：「耶和華不是在我們當中嗎？災禍不會臨到我們。」

耶和華曾指著祂的殿說：「我的名必永遠在耶路撒冷。」他卻在耶和華的殿內建造異教的祭壇。他在耶和華殿的兩個院子裡建造祭拜天上萬象的祭壇。他還在欣嫩子谷把自己的兒子燒死，獻作祭物。他行巫術、占卜、觀兆，求問靈媒和巫師。他做了許多耶和華視為惡的事，惹耶和華發怒。他雕刻偶像，放在上帝的殿中。關於這殿，上帝曾經對大衛和他兒子所羅門說：「我從以色列眾支派中選擇了這殿和耶路撒冷，我的名要在這裡永遠受尊崇。

黎明的時候，眾人從該亞法那裡把耶穌押往總督府，他們自己卻沒有進去，因為怕沾染污穢，不能吃逾越節的晚餐。
