亚哈斯差遣使者去见亚述王提革拉毗列色，说：“我是你的仆人、你的儿子。现在亚兰王和以色列王攻击我，求你来救我脱离他们的手。”亚哈斯将耶和华殿里和王宫府库里所有的金银都送给亚述王为礼物。亚述王应允了他，就上去攻打大马士革，将城攻取，杀了利汛，把居民掳到吉珥。亚哈斯王上大马士革去迎接亚述王提革拉毗列色，在大马士革看见一座坛，就照坛的规模样式作法画了图样，送到祭司乌利亚那里。祭司乌利亚照着亚哈斯王从大马士革送来的图样，在亚哈斯王没有从大马士革回来之先，建筑一座坛。王从大马士革回来看见坛，就近前来，在坛上献祭；烧燔祭、素祭、浇奠祭，将平安祭牲的血洒在坛上，又将耶和华面前的铜坛从耶和华殿和新坛的中间搬到新坛的北边。亚哈斯王吩咐祭司乌利亚说：“早晨的燔祭、晚上的素祭，王的燔祭、素祭，国内众民的燔祭、素祭、奠祭都要烧在大坛上。燔祭牲和平安祭牲的血也要洒在这坛上，只是铜坛我要用以求问耶和华。”

所来的就是巴比伦人、迦勒底的众人、比割人、书亚人、哥亚人，同着他们的还有亚述众人，乃是作省长、副省长、作军长有名声的，都骑着马，是可爱的少年人。

你因贪色无厌，又与亚述人行淫，与他们行淫之后，仍不满意，

那时，亚哈斯王差遣人去见亚述诸王，求他们帮助；因为以东人又来攻击犹大，掳掠子民。非利士人也来侵占高原和犹大南方的城邑，取了伯示麦、亚雅仑、基低罗，梭哥和属梭哥的乡村，亭纳和属亭纳的乡村，瑾锁和属瑾锁的乡村，就住在那里。因为以色列王亚哈斯在犹大放肆，大大干犯耶和华，所以耶和华使犹大卑微。亚述王提革拉毗列色上来，却没有帮助他，反倒欺凌他。亚哈斯从耶和华殿里和王宫中，并首领家内所取的财宝给了亚述王，这也无济于事。这亚哈斯王在急难的时候，越发得罪耶和华。他祭祀攻击他的大马士革之神，说：“因为亚兰王的神帮助他们，我也献祭与他，他好帮助我。”但那些神使他和以色列众人败亡了。

“阿荷拉归我之后行邪淫，贪恋所爱的人，就是她的邻邦亚述人。这些人都穿蓝衣，作省长、副省长，都骑着马，是可爱的少年人。
