于是亚哈斯差派使者去见亚述王提革拉．毗列色，说：“我是你的臣仆，你的儿子，求你上来，救我脱离那起来攻击我的亚兰王和以色列王的手。”亚哈斯拿耶和华殿里和王宫宝库内找到的金子和银子，送给亚述王作礼物。于是亚述王答应了他。亚述王上去攻打大马士革，把城攻取，把居民掳到吉珥，又把利汛杀死了。亚哈斯王到大马士革会见亚述王提革拉．毗列色，看见在大马士革的祭坛。亚哈斯王就派人把祭坛的图样、结构和详尽的做法送到乌利亚祭司那里。于是乌利亚祭司按着亚哈斯王从大马士革送回来的一切指示建造祭坛。在亚哈斯王从大马士革回来以前，乌利亚祭司就照样做了。王从大马士革回来，看见了那祭坛，于是王走到祭坛旁边，登上台阶，烧他的燔祭和素祭，又浇上他的奠祭，并且把他的平安祭牲的血洒在祭坛上。至于耶和华面前的铜祭坛，他把它从殿前，从新坛与耶和华殿中间移至新坛的北边。亚哈斯王吩咐乌利亚祭司说：“要在这大祭坛上焚烧早晨的燔祭、黄昏的素祭、王的燔祭牲和素祭、所有国民的燔祭和素祭；也要在坛上浇上他们的奠祭，以及所有燔祭牲和平安祭牲的血。至于铜祭坛，我要用来求问神。”

他们就是巴比伦人、迦勒底人、比割人、书亚人、哥亚人，与他们一起的还有亚述人，他们都是英俊的年轻人，是作总督和省长的，作长官和战士的，全部都是骑马的。

可是，因为你还不满足，又与亚述人行淫；你与他们行淫之后，还是不满足。

那时，亚哈斯王派人去求亚述王（按照《马索拉文本》的绝大部分文本，“王”作“诸王”；现参照另一份文本和各古译本翻译；参20节和王下16:7）帮助他，因为以东人又来攻打犹大，掳走了许多人。非利士人也侵入了高原和犹大南面的众城，占领了伯．示麦、亚雅仑、基低罗、梭哥和属于梭哥的村庄，亭纳和属于亭纳的村庄，瑾琐和属于瑾琐的村庄，并且住在那里。因为犹大王亚哈斯在犹大放纵邪恶，大大地冒犯了耶和华，所以耶和华使犹大卑微。亚述王提革拉．毗尼色来到他那里，不但没有援助他，反倒欺压他。亚哈斯取了耶和华殿里和王宫中，以及众领袖家里的财宝，给了亚述王，但也无济于事。这亚哈斯王在急难的时候，竟越发冒犯耶和华。他向击败了他的大马士革的神献祭，说：“亚兰王的神帮助了他们，我也向它们献祭，使它们也帮助我。”它们却使他和以色列人灭亡。

“阿荷拉嫁了我以后仍行邪淫，恋慕她的爱人，就是亚述的战士。他们穿着紫色衣服，是作总督和省长的；他们都是英俊的年轻人，是骑着马的骑兵。
