他们都要惊惶失措，疼痛与痛苦必抓住他们；他们必绞痛，像生产中的妇人一样。他们在惊愕中彼此对望，面色像火焰一般。

因为陀斐特那烧着的火早已安排好了，是为君王预备的，又深又宽；其中所堆的，是火和许多的柴；耶和华的气像一股硫磺火，把它燃点起来。

人怎样把银、铜、铁、铅、锡，集合在炉中，吹火使它们熔化，我也照样在我的怒气、我的烈怒中，把你们集合起来，放在城中，使你们熔化。我必集合你们，把我烈怒的火吹在你们身上，你们就必在城中熔化。

因此，主耶和华这样说：“我怎样把树林中的葡萄树抛在火里当作燃料，也必照样对待耶路撒冷的居民。我必变脸攻击他们；他们虽然从火里逃出来，火仍要吞灭他们；我变脸攻击他们的时候，你们就知道我是耶和华。

看哪！耶和华使大地空虚，变为荒凉；他必翻转地面，使地上的居民四散。人民和祭司，仆人和主人，婢女和主母，购买的和贩卖的，借给人和向人借的，放债的和借债的，全都一样被分散。大地必完全倒空，被劫掠净尽，这话是耶和华说的。大地悲哀衰残，世界零落衰残，地上居高位的人也衰败了。大地被其上的居民玷污，因为他们犯了律法，违了律例，背了永远的约。因此，大地被咒诅吞灭，地上的居民要承担惩罚。因此，地上的居民被焚烧，剩下的人很少。
