人子啊，你要審判他們？你要審判他們？要使他們知道他們祖先所做的可憎之事。

人子啊，你要審問他們麼？要審問麼？他們列祖所行可厭惡的事、你要使他們知道，

人子歟、爾欲鞫之乎、鞫之、使知厥祖可惡之事、

人子、爾當責之、使知自昔以來、彼祖所作、我已痛疾。

人子、爾欲責之乎、爾若責之、則使之知其列祖所行可憎之事、

“ Will you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? Then confront them with the detestable practices of their ancestors

“ Are you going to judge them, son of man? Will you judge them? Tell them the evil things done by their people of long ago. I hate those things.

Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Let them know the abominations of their fathers,

“ Son of man, bring charges against them and condemn them. Make them realize how detestable the sins of their ancestors really were.

“ Will you pass judgment against them, will you pass judgment, son of man? Explain the detestable practices of their ancestors to them.

Will you judge them, will you judge them, son of man? Make known to them the abominations of their fathers;

Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Then make known to them the abominations of their fathers.

“ Will you pass judgment against them, will you pass judgment, son of man? Explain the detestable practices of their fathers to them.

Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge[ them]? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

“ Will you judge them, son of man? Will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers.

“ As for you, son of man, are you willing to pronounce judgment, are you willing to pronounce judgment on the bloody city? Then confront her with all her abominable deeds!

The LORD said to me:“ Son of man, are you willing to pronounce judgment on Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominable deeds!

Then the LORD said to me,“ Do not pray for good to come to these people!Even if they fast, I will not hear their cries for help. Even if they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will kill them through wars, famines, and plagues.”Then I said,“ Oh, Lord GOD, look! The prophets are telling them that you said,‘ You will not experience war or suffer famine. I will give you lasting peace and prosperity in this land.’”Then the LORD said to me,“ Those prophets are prophesying lies while claiming my authority! I did not send them. I did not commission them. I did not speak to them. They are prophesying to these people false visions, worthless predictions, and the delusions of their own mind.

“ You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors did!Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute? They killed those who foretold long ago the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become!

So, Jeremiah, do not pray for these people. Do not cry out to me or petition me on their behalf. Do not plead with me to save them. For I will not listen to them when they call out to me for help when disaster strikes them.”

Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible that a prophet should be killed outside Jerusalem.’O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!Look, your house is forsaken! And I tell you, you will not see me until you say,‘ Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

“ Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her abominable practicesand say,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth were in the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.

Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would save only their own lives by their righteousness, declares the sovereign LORD.

Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, they could not save their own son or daughter; they would save only their own lives by their righteousness.

Then the LORD said,“ As for you, Jeremiah, do not pray for these people! Do not cry out to me or petition me on their behalf! Do not plead with me to save them, because I will not listen to you.

Woe to you! You build the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors killed.So you testify that you approve of the deeds of your ancestors, because they killed the prophets and you build their tombs!For this reason also the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’so that this generation may be held accountable for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world,from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it will be charged against this generation.

Then the LORD said to me,“ Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I would not feel pity for them! Get them away from me! Tell them to go away!

So now, residents of Jerusalem, people of Judah, you decide between me and my vineyard!

But upright men will punish them appropriately for their adultery and bloodshed, because they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.

Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not competent to settle trivial suits?

“ Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.And you say,‘ If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’By saying this you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets.Fill up then the measure of your ancestors!You snakes, you offspring of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?“ For this reason I am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,so that on you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.I tell you the truth, this generation will be held responsible for all these things!“ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!
