I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God told me to do, so that you might carry them out in the land you are about to enter and possess.So be sure to do them, because this will testify of your wise understanding to the people who will learn of all these statutes and say,“ Indeed, this great nation is a very wise people.”

You know that from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors you were ransomed– not by perishable things like silver or gold,

The LORD was very angry with your ancestors.Therefore say to the people: The LORD who rules over all says,“ Turn to me,” says the LORD who rules over all,“ and I will turn to you,” says the LORD who rules over all.“ Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the former prophets called out, saying,‘ The LORD who rules over all says,“ Turn now from your evil wickedness,”’ but they would by no means obey me,” says the LORD.

I brought you into a fertile land so you could enjoy its fruits and its rich bounty. But when you entered my land, you defiled it; you made the land I call my own loathsome to me.

so that the next generation, children yet to be born, might know about them. They will grow up and tell their descendants about them.Then they will place their confidence in God. They will not forget the works of God, and they will obey his commands.Then they will not be like their ancestors, who were a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that was not committed and faithful to God.

But as for you, your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness,and your children will wander in the wilderness forty years and suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your dead bodies lie finished in the wilderness.

“ You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors did!
