Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put an end to them in the wilderness.

Then I felt sorry for them. So I did not destroy them. I did not put an end to them in the desert.

Nevertheless, my eye spared them, and I did not destroy them or make a full end of them in the wilderness.

Now, while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I threw myself face down and cried out with a loud voice,“ Alas, sovereign LORD! You are completely wiping out the remnant of Israel!”

All this will happen because the LORD said,“ The whole land will be desolate; however, I will not completely destroy it.

Yet even then I will not completely destroy you,” says the LORD.

“ Due to your great compassion you did not abandon them in the desert. The pillar of cloud did not stop guiding them in the path by day, nor did the pillar of fire stop illuminating for them by night the path on which they should travel.

But as for me, my eye will not pity them nor will I spare them; I hereby repay them for what they have done.”

Today your own eyes see how the LORD delivered you– this very day– into my hands in the cave. Some told me to kill you, but I had pity on you and said,‘ I will not extend my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD’s chosen one.’

But with an overwhelming flood he will make a complete end of Nineveh; he will drive his enemies into darkness.Whatever you plot against the LORD, he will completely destroy! Distress will not arise a second time.

They were not really committed to him, and they were unfaithful to his covenant.Yet he is compassionate. He forgives sin and does not destroy. He often holds back his anger, and does not stir up his fury.

“ You, son of man– this is what the sovereign LORD says to the land of Israel: An end! The end is coming on the four corners of the land!

Therefore I will act with fury! My eye will not pity them nor will I spare them. When they have shouted in my ears, I will not listen to them.”
