I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.

I spoke to their children there. I said,‘ Do not follow the rules your parents gave you. Do not obey their laws. Do not make yourselves“ unclean” by worshiping their gods.

“ And I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their rules, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

“ Then I warned their children not to follow in their parents’ footsteps, defiling themselves with their idols.

“‘ Then I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Don’t follow the statutes of your fathers, defile yourselves with their idols, or keep their ordinances.

“ But I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

And I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

“ Then I said to their children in the wilderness: Don’t follow the statutes of your fathers, defile yourselves with their idols, or keep their ordinances.

But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

“‘ But I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Do not follow the practices of your fathers; do not observe their regulations, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers. Don’t observe their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.

And I said to them,‘ Throw away, each of you, the detestable things of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.’

Your eyes have seen what the Lord has done in the case of Baal peor, for all the men who followed Baal peor, the Lord your God has destroyed them from among you.But you who clung to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you.“ See, I have taught you statutes and judgments just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you are to do these things in the land where you are entering to take possession of it.So keep and do them, for that is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say,‘ Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’

knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,

“ The Lord was very angry with your fathers.Therefore say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Return to Me,” declares the Lord of armies,“ that I may return to you,” says the Lord of armies.“ Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.” ’ But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,” declares the Lord.

I brought you into the fruitful land To eat its fruit and its good things. But you came and defiled My land, And you made My inheritance an abomination.

So that the generation to come would know, the children yet to be born, That they would arise and tell them to their children,So that they would put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But comply with His commandments,And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.

But as for you, your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness.Also, your sons will be shepherds in the wilderness for forty years, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your bodies perish in the wilderness.

“ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.

And because of the thoughtlessness of her prostitution, she defiled the land and committed adultery with stones and trees.

Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them.So you are witnesses and you approve of the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build their tombs.

So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness for forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the Lord came to an end.Now behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, born of sinful men, to add still more to the burning anger of the Lord against Israel.For if you turn away from following Him, He will once more leave them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people.”
