He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign Lord.

He obeys my rules. He is faithful in keeping my laws. He always does what is right. You can be sure he will live,” announces the Lord and King.

“ And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?

if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has taken by robbery, and walks in the statutes of life, not doing injustice, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

But someone will say,“ You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe— and shudder!Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works;and the Scripture was fulfilled that says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”— and he was called a friend of God.You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man.

Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.

Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart,who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently.Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.

“ And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the rules that I am teaching you, and do them, that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise the Lord!

“ Now this is the commandment— the statutes and the rules— that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it,that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long.

Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said.

And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes but rejected my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned.“ Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to make a full end of them.

And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

You came down on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave them right rules and true laws, good statutes and commandments,and you made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law by Moses your servant.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

You shall therefore keep my statutes and my rules; if a person does them, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.

And he answered,“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”And he said to him,“ You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah
