He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign Lord.

Look, his ego is inflated; he is without integrity. But the righteous one will live by his faith.

But someone will say,“ You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith by my works.You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe— and they shudder.Senseless person! Are you willing to learn that faith without works is useless?Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works in offering Isaac his son on the altar?You see that faith was active together with his works, and by works, faith was made complete,and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend.You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works in receiving the messengers and sending them out by a different route?For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

I always strive to have a clear conscience toward God and men.

Little children, let no one deceive you. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

The one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father. I also will love him and will reveal myself to him.”

If you know that he is righteous, you know this as well: Everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

But let justice flow like water, and righteousness, like an unfailing stream.

How happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk according to the LORD’s instruction!Happy are those who keep his decrees and seek him with all their heart.They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways.You have commanded that your precepts be diligently kept.If only my ways were committed to keeping your statutes!Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all your commands.

“ Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live, enter, and take possession of the land the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited what other peoples had worked for.All this happened so that they might keep his statutes and obey his instructions. Hallelujah!

“ This is the command— the statutes and ordinances— the LORD your God has commanded me to teach you, so that you may follow them in the land you are about to enter and possess.Do this so that you may fear the LORD your God all the days of your life by keeping all his statutes and commands I am giving you, your son, and your grandson, and so that you may have a long life.

Pursue good and not evil so that you may live, and the LORD, the God of Armies, will be with you as you have claimed.

Both were righteous in God’s sight, living without blame according to all the commands and requirements of the Lord.

“‘ But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my statutes and they rejected my ordinances— the person who does them will live by them. They also completely profaned my Sabbaths. So I considered pouring out my wrath on them in the wilderness to put an end to them.

My servant David will be king over them, and there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow my ordinances, and keep my statutes and obey them.

The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one’s life; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.The precepts of the LORD are right, making the heart glad; the command of the LORD is radiant, making the eyes light up.The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are reliable and altogether righteous.They are more desirable than gold— than an abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb.In addition, your servant is warned by them, and in keeping them there is an abundant reward.

Keep my statutes and ordinances; a person will live if he does them. I am the LORD.

He answered,“ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and“ your neighbor as yourself.”“ You’ve answered correctly,” he told him.“ Do this and you will live.”But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror.For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was.But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who works— this person will be blessed in what he does.

The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not appealed to what is false, and who has not sworn deceitfully.He will receive blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.Such is the generation of those who inquire of him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
