But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,

“ Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right.

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; Who hath not lifted up his soul unto falsehood, And hath not sworn deceitfully.He shall receive a blessing from Jehovah, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.This is the generation of them that seek after him, That seek thy face, even Jacob.[ Selah

to them that by patience in well- doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life:but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be wrath and indignation,tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek:

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror:for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon the rock.And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof.

If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one also that doeth righteousness is begotten of him.

Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? then it was well with him.

And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

My little children, let no man lead you astray: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous:

For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, And speaketh truth in his heart;He that slandereth not with his tongue, Nor doeth evil to his friend, Nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor;In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, But who honoreth them that fear Jehovah; He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not;He that putteth not out his money to interest, Nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.

Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even our faith.And who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

What doth it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but have not works? can that faith save him?If a brother or sister be naked and in lack of daily food,and one of you say unto them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; and yet ye give them not the things needful to the body; what doth it profit?Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.Yea, a man will say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from thy works, and I by my works will show thee my faith.Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well: the demons also believe, and shudder.But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is barren?Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar?Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect;and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God.Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.And in like manner was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
