“ As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel.

“ You will not use that proverb in Israel anymore,” announces the Lord and King.“ And that is just as sure as I am alive.

As I live, declares the Lord God, this proverb shall no more be used by you in Israel.

As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, you will not quote this proverb anymore in Israel.

As I live”— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD—“ you will no longer use this proverb in Israel.

As I live,” declares the Lord God,“ you certainly are not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore.

“ As I live,” says the Lord GOD,“ you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel.

As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

As I live”— this is the declaration of the Lord God—“ you will no longer use this proverb in Israel.

[ As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have[ occasion] any more to use this proverb in Israel.

“ As surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, you will not quote this proverb in Israel anymore!

“ Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, everyone according to his ways,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ Return, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity will not be your ruin.

“ Yet you say,‘ Why doesn’t the son bear the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he will surely live.The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.

Tell them,‘“ As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?”’“ You, son of man, tell the children of your people,‘ The righteousness of the righteous will not deliver him in the day of his disobedience. And as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not fall by it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; neither will he who is righteous be able to live by it in the day that he sins.When I tell the righteous that he will surely live; if he trusts in his righteousness, and commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but he will die in his iniquity that he has committed.Again, when I say to the wicked,“ You will surely die;” if he turns from his sin, and does that which is lawful and right;if the wicked restore the pledge, give again that which he had taken by robbery, walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity; he will surely live. He will not die.None of his sins that he has committed will be remembered against him. He has done that which is lawful and right. He will surely live.“‘ Yet the children of your people say,“ The way of the Lord is not fair;” but as for them, their way is not fair.When the righteous turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, he will even die therein.When the wicked turns from his wickedness, and does that which is lawful and right, he will live by it.Yet you say,“ The way of the Lord is not fair.” House of Israel, I will judge every one of you after his ways.’”

Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

“‘“ Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.I don’t do this for your sake,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ Let it be known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, house of Israel.”
