though the father has done none of them. Indeed, when the son eats at the mountain shrines and defiles his neighbor’s wife,

常在庙宇吃祭偶像之物，玷污别人的妻子，

( though the father has done none of them):“ He eats at the mountain shrines. He defiles his neighbor’s wife.

Suppose he does these things even though his father never did.“ Suppose the son eats at the mountain temples. And he sleeps with another man’s wife.

( though he himself did none of these things), who even eats upon the mountains, defiles his neighbor’s wife,

And that son does all the evil things his father would never do— he worships idols on the mountains, commits adultery,

( though he himself did not do any of these things), that is, he even eats at the mountain shrines, and defiles his neighbor’s wife,

And does none of those duties, But has eaten on the mountains Or defiled his neighbor’s wife;

and that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbor’s wife,

though the father has done none of them. Indeed, when the son eats at the mountain shrines and defiles his neighbor’s wife,

( though the father did not do any of them). He eats pagan sacrifices on the mountains, defiles his neighbor’s wife,

or who does not do any of those things, but even has eaten at the mountain shrines, and defiled his neighbor’s wife,

but you went back and ate food and drank water in the place that he said to you,“ Do not eat food and do not drink water”— your corpse will never reach the grave of your ancestors.’”

“ Not everyone who says to me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.On that day many will say to me,‘ Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’Then I will announce to them,‘ I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!’“ Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. It collapsed with a great crash.”

Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

But the man of God replied,“ If you were to give me half your house, I still wouldn’t go with you, and I wouldn’t eat food or drink water in this place,

“ Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.

and receive whatever we ask from him because we keep his commands and do what is pleasing in his sight.

He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.

He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her menstrual impurity.He doesn’t oppress anyone but returns his collateral to the debtor. He does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing.

If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

He said,“ Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”

In the same way faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.
