The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up.He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order.

He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble.He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands.

For no one on earth— from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist.It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.

Humiliate the proud with a glance; walk on the wicked where they stand.

The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked.He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment.In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all.The cow will graze near the bear. The cub and the calf will lie down together. The lion will eat hay like a cow.The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra. Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm.Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, for as the waters fill the sea, so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord.

This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“ Take off your jeweled crown, for the old order changes. Now the lowly will be exalted, and the mighty will be brought down.

You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up. These events will bring great honor to the Lord’s name; they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.”

He will cut down the tall cedars of Lebanon and all the mighty oaks of Bashan.He will level all the high mountains and all the lofty hills.

Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest sing for joy

He gives prosperity to the poor and protects those who suffer.
